Oh my gosh these are so cute! I've got a viola and a chili pepper so far apparently. Anyone else collecting/bothering to grow theirs?

Ours hasn't grown anything. I suspect ds drowned it on the first day. But we live in hope.

must try harder our windowsill doesn’t get much sun

ReginaGeorgeous · 06/04/2020 18:53

We’ve got 9 but only 2 have sprouted, the lettuce and the radish. The bottom of my pots look like they have mould spots on them, think DD is watering them too often.

Backhometothenorth · 06/04/2020 19:05

Yes they are fabulous!

I have chilli and radish, only got round to planting then last week so no sprouting yet but I live in hope. Haven’t had a kitchen chilli plant for a few years but it’s so much more economical than buying from a shop

watermelonpink1 · 06/04/2020 20:14

We have pansy ! Gutted I didn't get more before lockdown they are so cute !

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/04/2020 20:15

Our chill pepper is doing well. Only 3 but that’s ok.

Basil is slow.

Carrots did well, but they can’t be transplanted easily so I think they won’t survive.

Cress was yum.

The compost dries out very quickly so I used normal compost.

Davros · 06/04/2020 20:33

Is anyone at the stage of moving them to bigger pots? I'm not sure of the best way to do it, what pots, what compost etc? DH wants to get a big planter thing for his bumper harvest (he thinks) of carrots, beetroot etc

APurpleSquirrel · 06/04/2020 20:38

Both Pepper & Parsley sprouting!

I've just moved the pansy outside because it was getting really leggy. It's living in a big pot with the sunflower from school.

Parsley and lettuce doing well but still small, chilli seems to be hibernating.

All sown about 3 weeks ago.

morecoffeerequired · 06/04/2020 20:54

Only got the chilli. Hasn't germinated yet - they are a bit temperamental apparently.

Chewbecca · 06/04/2020 20:54

I’ve planted M&S basil, beetroot and pepper 2 weeks ago. They’re on a windowsill in the conservatory which gets lots of light and is warm but chilly overnight.

Pepper - nothing
Basil - 1 tiny sprout started coming through today.
Beetroot - 5 healthy looking seedlings started coming through after just over a week.

I am not sure how long to leave them in their tiny pots.

CupoTeap · 06/04/2020 20:59

Confused just remembered I've got some of these ought to get cracking!

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/04/2020 21:01

I love mine way more than the kids do!

We have basil, forget-me-nots, Viola and 2xbeetroot. We planted them about 10 days ago and they’ve all got shoots Smile We are very southerly though and have a windowsill that gets a lot hours of sunshine.

I think M&S might have finally triggered the green fingers in me.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/04/2020 21:02

Beetroot will transplant ok.

Normally you plant carrots directly into soil, so they might not survive.

Chill can go into individual pots once roots are coming out of pot.

Longdistance · 06/04/2020 21:17

We have pansies, beetroot and lettuce. They’ve come up lovely. Better to have those than the mini plastic shite they were giving out previously.

Isolemnlyswear · 06/04/2020 21:33

We've got pansy, parsley and lettuce, don't know which is which because the DC's mixed up the pots before I could stick the labels in - im not a keen gardener so probably still wont know what they are even when they have grown!!

Iw24wImI · 07/04/2020 12:15

We loved the little shop things- had all the items, the display box, little trolley and little basket and my boys still play with them now (even though I thought they were utter tat when they first came out).

We absolutely adore the seedlings too. Thanks to us and grandparents and us shopping at M&S we have loads of the pots. They are really fun to set up and after 17 days every single one of them (we must have about 24) is sprouting, at least. At best they are positively blooming!

morecoffeerequired · 08/04/2020 14:47

My chilli has germinated Smile

LarkDescending · 08/04/2020 14:53

Pansies and micro cress here. The latter is already sprouting after 2 days. The viola is supposed to take 14-28 days. Love these little pots!

LarkDescending · 08/04/2020 14:55

*Viola not pansies. I want to add some pansies now!

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 08/04/2020 21:33

We have 1 carrot

I am very proud

Ltdannygreen · 08/04/2020 22:41

Dd 7 loves them, I’ve had to go to M&S for various things the last few weeks before the lockdown. We have a pepper. Carrot, pansy, viola and basil, they are growing nicely. It gives her something to be excited about. She checks them everyday.
