Is anyone up for another game of Mornington Crescent?

I don’t know if we need to apply the rule relating to bilateral diagonal moves or not in the present circumstances...

Oh-ho! Blowing the dust off the old Shotts-Bryce manoeuvre, eh? Good show! That means it has to be a Fairies’ Footsteps to Bank.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 17/03/2020 23:46

Ooh, are we pigging the Central Line? I’ve read about it, of course, but never seen it done in a live game. How thrilling.

Notting Hill Gate.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 18/03/2020 00:39

Sneaky, Esteban!

Under the Parsons Memorial Triplet, I'm going with Cannon Street.

You all seem to have come to terms with the new rules. However, I’m going to hark back to the glory days of ‘76 and play Green Park.

dementedma · 18/03/2020 07:21

Outraged that these new fangled rules only permit a Trumpington Curve on the third Tuesday of the month! How is one supposed to retain one's recognised mastery of the move with such restrictions? The game has been ruined by petty tinkering. I have sent a strongly worded Missive to the Council and woken up the Brigadier. This will not end well...
I play a furious forward fankle to Moorgate and await developments.

Yerroblemom1923 · 18/03/2020 10:07

Bank!

OneHippoOnThePhone · 18/03/2020 11:40

I didn’t realise there was a conçurent game of Monopoly running?

I think I’ll take advantage of the ore-noon ‘36 amendment and try Hainault

EstebanTheMagnificent · 18/03/2020 14:01

Ugh, that’s a dastardly use of ‘36, Hippo, but I must grudgingly applaud your chutzpah.

Let’s open it up again with a diagonal cross-back to Clapham North.

HeronLanyon · 18/03/2020 14:03

Diagonal cross-back only allowed under regulation 72 rules. I don’t think anyone has invoked them yet.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 18/03/2020 14:26

Only in the most literal readings of Featherstonehaugh, I believe, but I’ll withdraw that play gracefully.

A pedestrian but uncontroversial move to Kilburn it is, then.

OneHippoOnThePhone · 18/03/2020 16:24

Gosh!

Parsons Green

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 18/03/2020 17:33

I'll take the Tuesday route to Stratford.

Strandliv · 18/03/2020 20:08

@PaulinePetrovaPosey it’s not Tuesday? Is is acceptable to take a Tuesday route to Stratford on Wednesday. It might be acceptable in the rules, but it’s just not cricket. Barons Court.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 18/03/2020 20:11

Doh! I'm on Mat leave and I have no idea about dates.

I'll take a penalty Alperton.

Rhubarbe · 18/03/2020 21:00

Leaving the game wide open for me to go for Southwark. Cheers!

AngeloMysterioso · 18/03/2020 21:59

Being the hipster that I am, I feel almost duty-bound to spearhead that most trendy of plays; the Fotheringhay Manoeuvre. Which naturally leads us to...

Walthamstow Central.

Well, it is being gentrified, after all.

MargotMoon · 18/03/2020 22:12

Ooh can I play? It's been 25 years since I left London to move to Yorkshire so I am terribly rusty, so I'll go for an old fave as it's a fairly safe bet;

Caledonian Road

Strandliv · 19/03/2020 00:14

I’m not sure I can follow that. I think I’m going to have to play my wildcard.
Warren Street.

Yerroblemom1923 · 19/03/2020 00:38

Goodge Street.

PawPawNoodle · 19/03/2020 00:39

I see your wildcard and raise you an even wilder card, the veritable tiger of cards given its ominous name and the fear that it brings to arborists across the nation, ^Burnt Oak*.

PawPawNoodle · 19/03/2020 00:40

Burnt Oak even, however I see that I have been usurped by a usurper. I will head to the gallows immediately.

Strandliv · 19/03/2020 06:48

Oh dear, I fear you’re going to regret that very unwise move as I come right back at you with... Arsenal.

snowy0wl · 19/03/2020 13:46

Madness! I will save the game by moving us to Southfields.

OneHippoOnThePhone · 19/03/2020 16:04

If we are playing Madness rules it must be
Camden Town

HeronLanyon · 19/03/2020 17:53

Oh interesting interpretation of the madness rules there but I can see the precedent -
Ok - Turnpike Lane
