How to deal with 13 year old ds leaving shit streaks in the toilet?

It's driving me nuts! He's just got back from a week long school trip and here we are again. I know it must be him now because I haven't had to deal with it for a week. One day back and I've cleaned it twice.

We don't have a toilet brush as I hate them but I'm not expecting him to clean below the water line, just wipe it off with a bit of tissue! Before any suggests a brush I wouldn't trust him to use it hygienically anyway, he's very careless.

Please help!

Make him clean it. Every. Single. Time.

titchy · 15/03/2020 18:03

Why have you cleaned it twice? Why hasn't he?

peachypetite · 15/03/2020 18:05

Why are you cleaning his shit?

losenotloose · 15/03/2020 18:05

I do often get him to clean it but you're right I need to get him to do it every time. It's so frustrating, he's so bloody oblivious to everything.

Yep, get him back in there. Every time. Anyone that he lives with as an adult will be grateful for this!

Teddypops · 15/03/2020 18:11

Just get a toilet brush! They are cheap as chips, you can replace them every few months.

I wouldn't be wiping the bowl with tissue either.

losenotloose · 15/03/2020 18:11

I just asked him what he thinks will happen when he leaves home because anyone else would not clean his shit and cleaning it once it's tried is not fun!

How he supposed to clean it? Get a loo brush.

Comefromaway · 15/03/2020 18:13

My autistic, very squeamish 15 year old had to be taught how to deal with it. I tell him to cover it in toilet roll, squirt bleach on it, then next time it usually flushes away. Or use toilet mousse.

Whycantibetangy · 15/03/2020 18:14

How the hell is he supposed to clean it without a brush?

losenotloose · 15/03/2020 18:14

I care about the environment @Teddypops. And as I said I don't trust him to not splash toilet water around.

I don't get it. You wipe your own arse don't you?? So what's the issue with wiping your own poo off the toilet bowls?Confused

livefornaps · 15/03/2020 18:16

How does he react when you show him?? Tell him he has to stay in the loo until the flush is finished to make sure he hasn't left a mess. Then have a loo brush and toilet cleaner on standby. If he sees after the flush there is shit everywhere, he puts in toilet cleaner, grabs the brush and flushes again while brushing. Get this sorted NOW otherwise he will be a disgusting pig and if anyone lives with him they will want to vomit. It is DISGUSTING to walk into a toilet like that.

nocoolnamesleft · 15/03/2020 18:17

If you won't have a toilet brush, what do you expect?

Mintjulia · 15/03/2020 18:17

Without a toilet brush, I’m not sure I’d be keen either.Confused

losenotloose · 15/03/2020 18:26

I'm not getting a toilet brush. That isn't really the issue, the issue is he's absent minded and can't be bothered. When I point it out to him he cleans it but it's just one thing in a long list of things he has to regularly be reminded about. I just wish he'd stop expecting me to remind him of everything, his 11 year old brother is far more self sufficient.

If you find out let me know. My 33 year old husband seems incapable of having a shit without leaving some sort of residue!

SardineJam · 15/03/2020 18:28

My 8 year old knows he needs to clean the toilet with a brush if he has left a mess so not sure why a 13 year old isn't capable

Ozziewozzie · 15/03/2020 18:32

I don’t own a toilet brush either ( I have 2 young children who both went through a toilet obsession and the last thing I wanted was my toddlers waving a toilet brush around like a wand. Plus, I’ve had one before and so many people cover it in clumps of toilet paper and chunks of poo. It’s far worse just festering around.
Squirt of bleach and a bit of tissue.

LovingLola · 15/03/2020 18:34

Print and laminate a reminder
Put in on the back of the bathroom door
Every time he forgets to clean it take his phone for 24 hours

GiveHerHellFromUs · 15/03/2020 18:35

I wouldn't wipe my own poo out of the toilet with tissue. That's just weird. Get a toilet brush ffs.

sauvignonblancplz · 15/03/2020 18:36

A bottle of domestos beside the loo- after a bowel movement and you’ve flushed the loo put some around the rim. It removes any residue and no need for a toilet brush.

TheWordmeister · 15/03/2020 18:38

We wouldn't have a toilet brush - disgusting things.

Anyone that leaves a skid has been trained to squirt some bleach in - simple.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 15/03/2020 18:39

If you care about the environment bleach after every use isn't better than a toilet brush

silver1977 · 15/03/2020 18:41

What a disgusting thread Hmm
