I have to tidy and clean and I don't want to before kitchen man gets here :(

OP posts:
Sn0tnose · 15/03/2020 14:36

💐 to all of you who are having to deal with some bloody awful things at the moment. Reading some of these posts has made me realise how lucky I am and how little I have to worry about, other than the health of loved ones who are unlikely to survive if they get ill.

Also wondering how likely I am to be able to buy normal weekly shopping for us and the three separate households of ill & elderly people I’ve finally managed to convince to stay indoors without being told I can’t buy it all.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 15/03/2020 14:41

Getting stupidly worried as I have a cough and headache. Never had a day off and now having to take a week. I don't even know if I get sick pay as I can't find my contract.

Bigsighall · 15/03/2020 14:46

The same as some of the others, the economic impact to my small business. I am blaming the media. So many small business will go bust over this. (And maybe some larger ones).

cantdoitalone · 15/03/2020 16:09

The person in Waitrose this morning who had a go at me for buying 4 bottles of milk. I was shopping for my family, my elderly neighbours and the woman with a newborn over the road so I don't think 4 x2l bottles is excessive.

bubba22 · 15/03/2020 16:10

How I’m going to get toilet roll because everywhere is sold out near me

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 16:12

I need to take my recycling out but can’t stand another handwash procedure on my return inside. Bloody hell i need to get a grip - just having a wobbly moment - need to understand this is going to be for weeks/months. Get a grip Heron !!!

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 16:15

bubba we are in unprecedented times. I’ve come round to the idea that if I run out and can’t get more then my shower is actually right next to my loo. Loo roll has disappeared from my worry radar (which currently has lots of other things blipping).

MinnieMountain · 15/03/2020 17:20

Well, DH's ski trip has been cancelled, DS has an almost certainly not Covid cough so is at home for a week, and I've postponed our trip to Centre Parks.

Now I'm worrying about if it's ok to bother my manager with "normal" work stuff.

happypotamus · 15/03/2020 17:31

I am stressing about nothing, and then stressing because that's ridiculous in a time when there is so much to actually worry about. I don't know what is wrong with me, I just feel all wobbly for no reason. Surely it's not ok to not be ok at a time like this, and it's not ok to bother people with my pointless not-okness at a time when everyone has so many actual life and death things to worry about.

peaceanddove · 15/03/2020 23:08

Some tripe I'm watching right now with some slebs cycling through a desert somewhere. We've already had the obligatory tearful scene. Then someone got really hot (deserts are hot places, who knew) and was complaining how tired they felt as they lounged in the back of the luxury 4x4 support vehicle whilst being handed chilled mineral water by their own personal doctor. Then the obligatory 'faux super serious situation' that really, really isn't, complete with the very serious voice over for extra seriousness. But then oh look he's actually absolutely fine after all who'd have thought it?

Someone is now bleating about how alone they feel as they're surrounded by a camera crew, the medical crew and several luxury 4x4 support vehicles with their adjoining crew and staff.

Right I've had to switch it off.

Buns05 · 15/03/2020 23:28

I'm worried about preparing work for my class if school closes. I teach Reception.
How many weeks worth of work needs preparing?
What work can they do with parents/carers?
Do I prepare any 'new learning'?
What about reading books?
The list goes on..!

Therewere5inthebed · 16/03/2020 16:48

DH and I both have D&V, a pain in the bum at the best of times but I’m stressing that it’s food poisoning from oysters that we ate at the weekend rather than a bug meaning that it will last considerably longer and mean time off work, we’re ok today and tomorrow as we were supposed to be going away for a night for our 15y anniversary so leave is already in place.

Desperately worried about parents and CV and our financial situation after I had an accident resulting in not being paid for 4 months last year.

I8toys · 16/03/2020 18:51

I gave my 70 year old mum a couple of kisses. And my husband said you could kill her doing that. I just didn't think. She is healthy and I have zero symptoms. I know that doesn't mean much but its playing on my mind.

allthiswasunseen · 16/03/2020 18:54

12 sodding weeks in shut down with my husband. 12 fucking weeks!
I can only bear him if I get away from him regularly and see other people.
12 weeks!

Betty1233 · 16/03/2020 19:44

Worried about whether my company will shut down ( I’m a temp ). Worried about corona changing everything .

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 16/03/2020 19:55

I'm having the simplest Civil Partnership ceremony next week. Just DP and I plus two friends as witnesses. Weekday while kids are at school. I'm worried they'll close schools, the restaurant we've booked our celebration lunch in will close and whether one or both of our witnesses and/or the registrar will have to self isolate. Does anyone know if signings are legal if they're via Skype?
Has to be done in person - signing the document creates the partnership.
There will be an office full of registrars if one is off isolating Grin

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 16/03/2020 19:58

That I now have to be off work for 14days instead of 7. Not sure how I'm going to pay the rent.

youvegottobekidding · 16/03/2020 21:30

Bitches at work. Being taken advantage of. Made to feel like shit, talked about. Ignored. Doing nearly all the work while most of them stand around gossiping.

‘D’H - unsupportive, says what goes on at work stays at work (so basically don’t bring your work troubles home). DH nearly always in a crap mood. It’s just miserable shit day in day out. Can’t sleep.

Really123456 · 16/03/2020 21:35

@youvegottobekidding that's shit. Are you sure he means it that way though... Maybe just trying to get you to detach to help you? Xx

nildesparandum · 16/03/2020 21:49

Coronovirus. I am over 70 and have COPD and just heard the news that I am on house arrest from Saturday.I am due to see a solicitor soon about probate (late husband) so will have to be put off as I am wary of my family wanting to take control as they are fighting with each other already.
The shops running out of vital supplies.I was in my local Asda this morning and it was like a madhouse with staff being tetchy because of abusive customers. My son has just informed me that his local supermarket has run out of bread.
This country is turning into a third world one

Seeitsortit · 16/03/2020 22:10

Ddad- had a hypo tonight at his locked down care home. They are great there - the GP and DN’s are trying to work his meds around his dementia issues (a nightmare of a task), but feel bad/worried.
Dmum - said earlier she was trying to get hold of 101 (or whatever it is) about her cold. Mum, it’s a big, the same one I have, my dd has and most of my office, it is NOT CV-19, and they are hellishly busy to be listening to a woman who rambles about nothing who only has a common cold ffs.....(she has had none of the CV19 symptoms, there has been no reported cases where she lives and she barely leaves the house......)

Em8725 · 16/03/2020 22:27

Food. I can’t get any food in for my Nan who has COPD and now needs to isolate for 12 weeks. This will kill her, it really will. I’m trying to get her to move her elderly best friend with no issues in, so at least she won’t be alone. We have bare cupboards and so does she. Every supermarket is ransacked. This is ridiculous. I also can’t see my dad for 12 weeks. I’m in bits tonight.

CheekyMango · 16/03/2020 22:43

@Em8725 check with churches in your area they will help even if you're not religious, try Amazon, try any online retailer Xxx

mindproject · 16/03/2020 22:45

The potential apocalypse. Other than that I'm completely fine and carrying on as normal.

Em8725 · 16/03/2020 23:03

@CheekyMango all supermarket online deliveries are a complete no go. No availability for weeks, or the websites are crashing completely. I’ve tried amazon, and couldn’t get what she needs. I’ve got colleagues on the hunt from tomorrow and in the mean time I’m going to have to leave a cooked dinner outside her door every day. Thankyou x
