Everything is so uncertain at the moment so I thought it would be nice to have a good news thread.
I had two pieces of news today. Firstly ds2 has been offered the chance to be a' extra in Jude Law's next film with Ruth Wilson.
Also he finished his painting at his art class and I'm buying it...

There was blossom on our neighbour’s cherry tree today. There’s so much crap going on at the mo, it was good to see that spring is just getting on with its thing regardless. This means the magnolia trees in our local park will be resplendent in a few weeks’ time and there will be ducklings too.

I was thinking that just this morning. Out with the dogs at the crack of daft o'clock, all the birds trilling away, a couple of deer flashing their white bums at me across the field . . . it was breathtakingly beautiful.

One of those days, not a soul about - you could be the only person in creation.

I'm a memory carer and took my client on a walk round the fields today... She's an artist and walking with her is a whole new experience. She sees things others don't see and its lovely...

A "memory carer"! I've never heard of that - what a fascinating job that must be.

And you are right about artists - they have an eye for things that most of us don't.

boatyardblues · 14/03/2020 08:36

In a continuation on my springwatch vibe, there’s a pair of magpies nestbuilding in our garden cherry tree. I watched them come and go with twigs yesterday. Life goes on.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 14/03/2020 08:40

It's nice to hear about others good news.

Mine is my newish colleague has found another job. She's is the laziest, rudest person I've come across in a long time so hearing she's handed her notice in I'm so happy Smile she's cost the company thousands in loses so far so it was only a matter of time I suppose.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/03/2020 10:12

It's amazing how well people like that often succeed, though LongGrass.

Bosses are so keen to get rid of them that they won't give a truthful reference. And in some organisations, the only way to stop them causing problems is to promote them . . .

But I'm very happy for you that she is no longer your problem.

Charlie Gard's parents are expecting a baby.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/03/2020 15:57

My good news:
Last years gingko seeds have come out with lots of new green leaves, rucola, basil and habaneras are starting, too.
Kind of good:
the marten (or a marten?) is back starting a new family and making lots of noise on top of my bedroom ceiling.
Parentally infuriating but kind of good:
DS just confessed that he did not revise for one single exam ever in 5,6 school years. And still got acceptable grades. Aaargh!!
