Who else is off sick?

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 14:10

I'm off work sick at the moment. Started feeling a bit run down over the weekend, lacking energy. Got a really sore throat on Monday to the point I could barely speak, fever and today its basically the same although throat isn't as bad. Feel bad being off work though and I'm so bored now, tempted to go back tomorrow. Sad

Anyone else off sick?

Me. Had a fever, cough and shortness of breath for 1.5 weeks now, never been off this long. Every morning I've woken feeling better but gets worse again. Medical centre confirmed it was a virus, very similar to
Flu but they are not testing anyone for
Corona unless they've been abroad or had known contact with someone. We've all had it in our house and it is horrible, wouldn't wish it on anyone Sad

Minnie888 · 10/03/2020 14:13

Ps bored of tv now!

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 14:16

Aw that sucks. My fiance keeps wondering if I've got corona but I doubt it. Think it's just a bad cold. Getting so sick of tv and being stuck in bed.

Yes I’m better than i was at the weekend but still feel pretty awful - sore throat blinding headache breathless and exhaustion. Need to go back tomorrow - feel like I really should be back today. I’ve been really good at washing hands since Xmas! I really wish I felt more better (betterer?!) to do a 12h day tomorrow

Murrfect · 10/03/2020 14:40

Yeah n I’ve definitely read through Mumsnet active threads a few times thinking well it’s not coronavirus.... it’s just virusyvirus!

Callybrid · 10/03/2020 14:45

Minnie888 - when you say everyone in your house has had it; have the others recovered and how long did it take? My son has similar - every morning perks up a bit and I think we might be breaking the back of it, then temperature spikes all afternoon/evening and he’s just lying down fatigued and coughing again. We’re on day 6 and I just really want to see an improvement.

Hope you are feeling better v soon!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 10/03/2020 14:48

OP, the new government advice is to self quarantine for at least one week, with any cold like symptoms, so you’d probably get a bollocking for going back when you’re ill. I know I’d give you one, if you worked for me.

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 14:49

Mine is like that @callybrid. I keep feeling better, then the fever hits again and I want to go to sleep. Bloody annoying but my boss is being good about it and saying to take as long as I need to get better.

There is a nasty cold going around at the minute, though.

NorthernGravy · 10/03/2020 14:50

I’ve been off for nearly 2 weeks, started with flu like symptoms, progressed on to shortness of breath, wheezing, asthma flare up. On 2nd course of oral steroids, need to stop for breath after walking 50 feet. I haven’t been tested for coronavirus due to not having a history or foreign travel or contact. It is not a usual chest infection for me, I’m not responding to meds like I should (I’ve never needed 2 courses of prednisolone in my life) and I’m entirely convinced I have it (I am not an anxious health worrier).

Murrfect · 10/03/2020 14:51

I thought that was going to be government advice but not yet?

Certainly I’m still not ok but my work would prefer me back - I won’t be shaking hands though!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 10/03/2020 14:54

Me. I'm a teacher and I've lost my voice. I feel absolutely fine otherwise but it hurts to talk and I can't face trying to make myself heard above the noise of a busy classroom.

Really? That seems excessive. I think mine is more likely the bad cold, I don't have any shortness of breath. Unless that happens in the next few days then I can't see me having corona, although my team mates don't want me back yet. Grin

Me! I started Sunday feeling a bit achey and my Chest aching. Then got worse yesterday, all over body aches and cough. Up most of the night with shivers and sweats and this god awful cough. It feels like my chest is going to explode

That was me yesterday then the fever started hitting me. I've never had such a bad throat before that I couldn't speak. My fiance was thrilled. Grin

I’m healthy but stuck in with toddlers. One has conjunctivitis. Ones just had two weeks isolation and apparently nursery heard her cough today so she’s got another two weeks isolation. I haven’t heard her cough since I picked her up three hours ago. Very bored 😐

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 15:04

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily

Just wondering where did you see that advice from the government?

OP posts:
Minnie888 · 10/03/2020 15:22

@Callybrid my little boy had it first, took him couple of weeks but ok now. I've had it 1.5 weeks and my husband about a week so I think realistically 2 weeks.

I personally think a lot more people are walking around with Corona than realise especially as they aren't testing everyone...
Seems too much of a coincidence with same symptoms.

I'd say shortness of breath didn't appear until after week 1 just if you haven't had it yet it still might come unfortunately Sad

Minnie888 · 10/03/2020 15:23

@NorthernGravy sounds exactly like me. Feel like your getting better then boom back again. Horrible virus

Hope everyone feels better soon Daffodil

Minnie888 · 10/03/2020 15:26

@SudokuQueen it's been on the news that the new advice will be to self isolate for 7 days with any symptoms. Technically not in place yet but honestly I would try and avoid work until definitely better or it'll just spread it.

I totally get it is horrible especially the guilty feeling if you feel well enough to work.

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 15:42

Well that's shit. Sad Maybe I can just work from home instead. But I'd have to go into the office to get my laptop.

hiphopapotamuses · 10/03/2020 15:53

I'm WFH but have tonsillitis and a raging sinus infection and ear infection. Just waiting for the antibiotics to take effect as I'm in pain.
Managed to get loads done being home though!

SudokuQueen · 10/03/2020 16:10

I'm only seeing that they might tell people to self isolate with symptoms similar to flu. Can't see anything on the BBC that confirms they are definitely doing that.
