Benign Question of the Day: How do you store your DCs friends parents on your phone?

Completely useless information but I'm still interested.

My WhatsApp feed is ParentFirstName(ChildsNameMum).

So for example Anna(KatiesMum).

Do you store them similarly so you know what child they 'belong to' or do you just put them by their name? Or like my friend do you put them down as their child's name (this will be confusing in teen years).

OP posts:

Yes I do similar I.e. put the child's name in brackets e.g. Jane Taylor (Emily)

If the child is well known to me they also have their own entry

Lycanthropology · 10/03/2020 09:47

I have a “Alison (Sophie’s mum)” arrangement.

Cordillera · 10/03/2020 09:47

I do it that way too but no brackets, just Anna Katie's Mum. Does mean I have to scroll through a lot when I search for Mum as in my Mum 🙂

BarbaraofSeville · 10/03/2020 09:50

Mine is a random mess and I should really sort it out. I don't have DC but in my phone I have entries such as Sarah cat sitter to differentiate her from Sarah Sports Club or Sarah from work.

Of course I only did this after I messaged Sarah cat sitter, who I'm otherwise in touch with a handful of times of year at most and is not a member of the sports club or do that activity at all to ask her if she was going to the sports club event at the weekend. Cue a confused 'wrong Sarah'? reply.

KittenVsBox · 10/03/2020 09:54

Jane Smith (Amelia) style here.

Seainasive · 10/03/2020 09:56

David Charly’s Dad here

GinandGingerBeer · 10/03/2020 09:58

Opposite way round for me. Kids name first as I'm more likely to know that than remember the mums name is Jane
Toms mum Jane
Katies dad Mark
Etc.

ElderAve · 10/03/2020 09:59

I put the child's name first so I can look them up. I have zero chance of remembering what mum's name is, but I do also record mum's name so I can at least pretend that I do.

tiredanddangerous · 10/03/2020 10:03

Anna Charlie’s mum

inwood · 10/03/2020 10:07

Kid first - eg

Jon's mum Sarah

I can't remember all the parents names but do remember the kids.

EssentialHummus · 10/03/2020 10:11

Another random mess here, but I tend towards Mary Otto (mum child). Though DH is still Russian Leicester Sq in my phone, so I'm no gold standard for this.

Pascha · 10/03/2020 10:11

Mine is still the other way round with an initial in brackets to denote which of my children they belong to:

Horatio's mum Guinevere (Z)

And my mum is listed as 'mother' so I can find her quickly.

UncleMatthewsEntrenchingTool · 10/03/2020 10:12

David’s mum Sarah
Amelia’s dad Tom

That pattern

WooMaWang · 10/03/2020 10:14

Mine all say things like 'Laura Sam's Mum'. The Sam's mum bit is in the surname field.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 10/03/2020 10:17

One of my (now) best mates is in my phone as 'Jane? Archie's mum'*
I also have someone in my phone as 'school mum, leg warmers'

TheJoxter · 10/03/2020 10:18

Parents name (child’s name)
Eg Jane (Tom)

OwlBasket · 10/03/2020 10:19

I do child’s name then the qualifier (parent or carer’s name or whatever) so, for one child I might have:

Anna - Fred
Anna - Jo
Anna - Bertha (sitter)
Anna - herself

OwlBasket · 10/03/2020 10:21

All of the above in the First Name field so they appear together in the list of contacts

Fred578 · 10/03/2020 10:22

I have ‘parent’s name’ - Robert’s Mum

Ribenaberriesgowoo82 · 10/03/2020 10:24

Mum name & child name (school)

Chienloup · 10/03/2020 10:25

I have parent name - child name, eg Annie - Freya.

DrySnitch · 10/03/2020 10:27

Parents name then childs name, e.g. Sarah (Tom)

fairlygoodmother · 10/03/2020 10:35

This is fascinating! Am I the only person who has the parent’s full name with no additional notes?

WooMaWang · 10/03/2020 13:37

You must be better at remembering people's names than the rest of us, @fairlygoodmother.

I'd never manage if I had to remember the actual names of my kids' friends.

ThunderPython · 10/03/2020 13:41

Depends how well I know them.

Usually : Arthur's mum (Charlotte) because half the time I can't remember the parent's name.
