Can you suggest somewhere for us to go on holiday in the uk?

We like Southwold, Wells next the sea, Tenby and Dorset but fancy a change. There are just the 3 of us, me, DH and DD aged 12. We prefer self catering rather than hotels and the dd is hopeful of things to do on the holiday. We want to be near the coast. We live in the Midlands so would prefer to travel south rather than north, just in the hope of sunnier weather. This holiday will be in August so peak season. Can anyone suggest nice places for us to look at? Thanks.

Maybe have a look if the Field Studies Centre at Slapton Ley is doing anything. We had one of our best ever family holidays there, and there would be other children for dd to mix with.

We stayed in an air b&b near cardigan bay Wales. It was absolutely lovely and loads to do. We saw dolphin, seals, went to a farm park, gin distillery, botanical gardens. Would recommend.

New forest national park area is lovely

We're going to the Isle of Wight in the Easter holidays (self-catering) and it looks as if there's loads to do there!

Isle of Wight? Just getting on the ferry feels like going abroad and the island is like going back in time.

Isle of Man is lovely.

Northumberland

I was going to suggest Northumberland coast or North west wales is nice.

Sorry just saw you'd rather travel south, I don't know that part of the world so ignore me!!

Go north! Either North Yorkshire and do Whitby / Scarborough / Robin Hoods Bay ot base yourself in Durham and do durham / Newcastle / north east coast.

The Lizard peninsula in Cornwall. Beautiful cove beaches, sand, opportunities to surf and kayak, but not overly busy even at peak season.

You will love Steephill Cove (walkable from Ventnor), and the beaches of Compton Bay, also Bonchurch, Niton Village, walks on Tennyson Down, to the Batteries etc. Fossil hunting and a fossil walk in the Brook area...

There are also places to visit; the Roman Villa, Osborne House etc.

Lake District. It’s beautiful all year.

What about Barry island

Cornwall and The Lakes are my fave places so far.

Have you considered a canal boat holiday? 3 for a crew is great, one steering the boat, 2 on lock duty.

Scilly Isles. Economy heavily dependent on tourism and summer season looks terrible so far so you'd be doing a good deed too.
