How do you find it? Is the range of books good, and do you get to keep downloads or do they expire?

Yes I subscribe. Have done for years. Yes, you keep the books. I’ve got hundreds. No quibble return policy too. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

APheasantPluckersSon · 04/03/2020 19:40

I love my audible subscription although had to downgrade from 2 monthly credits to 1 (built up a bit of a backlog at one point). I listen to audio books a lot when cleaning, cooking and commuting to and from work (also like that you can play them through Sonos now).

Yes you get to keep your downloads.

Selection is pretty good, there have only been a few I’ve wanted that they haven’t had so far and they’re good about refunding credits if you don’t like a book.

Frenchfancy · 04/03/2020 19:41

I do. At first I thought it was expensive for just 1 book a month but now I wouldn't be without it. I have the app on my phone, and once you have the downloads they are yours. Dd has the app too so we both get use of it.

There are definitely some books that I prefer to read and others I prefer to listen to.

Yes, I really like it. The daily deals are good and I find I try new genres of books that I wouldn’t otherwise try really cheaply.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/03/2020 19:42

I love it and take advantage of their offer sometimes they do an offer of £3 a book

Sometimes I buy the book on kindle and listen with whispersync it seems extravagant but really enjoy reading and audio books

Look on What I’m Reading section for recommendations

I have an audible subscription and love it . Just about to finish one and love looking for the next one . I listen on my drive to work, whilst doing boring household stuff, and in the night when I can’t sleep .

Zaphodsotherhead · 04/03/2020 19:43

I do, one credit a month, and I love it. It's a bit like getting a present every month, being allowed to choose a book! I mostly use it for non-fiction books which can be very pricey. I always listen to a sample first though, because the narrator can make or break a book, and some of them are a bit irritating to my ear. My favourites are the ones who narrate their own book, like Neil Oliver or Alice Roberts.

dun1urkin · 04/03/2020 19:46

Me, too. I’m on one book a month and also love it. I even got my DH to treat me to a 12 book credit package for my birthday a couple of years ago so I didn’t have to wait too long to buy all 19 Aubrey Maturin books Grin
Well worth the money.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2020 19:49

Yes. I love it!

CodenameVillanelle · 04/03/2020 19:51

I love it.
You keep the books, and within a year of purchase, as long as you have an active subscription, you can return them and get a credit back.
You have to use the credits as they disappear if you cancel the subscription.
You should be able to get a half price month if you look out for deals and if you go to cancel they often offer 3 months half price if you stay.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 04/03/2020 19:53

I'm on the one book a month too and really love it. I was just trying to persuade my mum to join too.
It's a great selection of books. I've just bought a book and am waiting to listen at the weekend as I love to listen for hours at a time.

EachandEveryone · 04/03/2020 19:59

I like it but what do you do with the books once they are finished? Im not one to return to a book.

Asgoodas · 04/03/2020 20:02

We commute and audible has become invaluable as we no longer fear traffic or delays 😁

crankysaurus · 04/03/2020 20:05

Thank you, this is really helpful. Thinking about it for dyslexic DS who loves books but can't easily read novels.

Also have a subscription, would not be without it.
I often have a book for when cooking or driving. Also my children love audio books and 1 of mine will go to sleep listening to an audio book.
Such amazing value when you consider it's less than £10 a month for a book often twice that.
Never had a problem returning.
You keep all the books in your library for when you need to relisten

Northernsoullover · 04/03/2020 20:06

I'm a cleaner and when I have a seven hour shift its sanity saving.

Luckypoppy · 04/03/2020 20:07

Wouldn't be without it and had it for over 12 years!

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 04/03/2020 20:11

@EachandEveryone you can return the books on audible and they refund you a credit to use on a new book Wink

helpfulperson · 04/03/2020 20:13

Love it. As well as books it has loads of free podcasts and also you can buy things like radio comedy series.

writingsonthewall · 04/03/2020 20:16

I'm a big fan and have a 2 book a month subscription but interested about this returning thing.

I did know you can return books and get a credit back as have done it a couple of times for books I realised I had already read, or ones I couldn't get along with. But I didn't realise you could do it with any book you've listened to... so does this mean you only really need to have a 1 book subscription because you can just return them if you get through them more frequently?!

N0ManJan · 04/03/2020 20:17

I love it! If I build up a backlog I put the account on hold to allow me to get through them. I commute to work so listen to audiobooks/podcasts a lot. I think it’s definitely had a positive impact on my mental health as well

Kaykay066 · 04/03/2020 20:19

I have it too, boys wanted magic faraway tree, the christmasaurus, the boy at the back of the class and last months was George’s marvellous medicine. Youngest want the creakers this month so kept busy with them but I prefer an actual book so kids get to pick what they fancy it’s great as boys can both listen on the echo or they have the app on iPads. We do read too but they like to relax with an audio book too at bedtime

ProfYaffle · 04/03/2020 20:24

Op, I got it for my dyslexic daughter - worth every penny! So heartwarming when she's curled up in a corner with Steven fry burbling away at Harry Potter. It really had opened up the world out literature for her.

CormoranStrike · 04/03/2020 20:29

I utterly love it

EnsignRoLaren · 04/03/2020 20:43

Just to hop on and say that you can download audiobooks through your local library if you get a PIN and a library card - usually via OverDrive or BorrowBox- at no cost.

Audible has the biggest collection of books, but there are other subscription and retail options for audio.

Also, Audible will notice if you repeatedly listen to and return books! And by doing so you would be depriving authors and publishers of the small income that goes to them from audiobook publishing!
