Tell me about your 'glitch in the Matrix' moments

Yesterday I was driving to the supermarket and was listening to an old 80's classic (Saint Elmo's Fire) via Spotify on the car's entertainment system. I pulled into a parking space and disconnected my phone, the car reverted to the radio default and picked up EXACTLY where the song had left off on my Spotify. Initially I thought I hadn't disconnected properly but then realised it was just a really weird glitch in the Matrix.

I was reversing into my drive - very quiet road, not quite a cul-de-sac but it doesn't go anywhere. There was a screech of brakes - a car had hurtled towards me, couldn't stop in time and had gone up on the pavement to drive round me. Meh - these things happen, people are wankers. Exactly the same thing happened the next day. I was in exactly the same position on the road, same car, same speed, same need to go on the pavement to drive round me.

I was skiving off university and I was in a Starbucks in London near Monument when my dad walked in, with a group of colleagues. I presumed that he was in London for a meeting as his company had their HQ there. Still a very strange coincidence! I had never been to the Mansion House Starbucks before.

Didn’t want to get into an awkward conversation about skipping uni so I quickly finished my drink and lift before he saw me. Next time I saw him, I’d casually asked if he’d been up to London lately as he normally told me when he was coming up so we could meet up. He hadn’t been for a month!

I was once sitting in a cafe in London by the window with a couple of hours of time to kill and I watched people coming and going. After a while I started to see the same people going past. Over and over. I came to the conclusion that my brain / the matrix can only conjure up so many faces! That was weird.

I go running quite early in the mornings and, as I always go at about the same time, often see the same people out and about. There is one guy who I used to smile and nod hello to as I passed him walking his dog as, unlike with everyone else I saw where there was some variation in who I saw and where I saw them as most of them were walking/running too, I passed this guy by the same tree every single day. No matter if I'd left the house a bit later than usual or was running slower than normal. Every day.

In September I had vomiting and diarrhoea bug and didn't run for a few days. By the fifth day I was almost entirely better and cabin feverish so went running, this time in the middle of the afternoon. And passed him and his dog at the exact same tree as usual. I actually stopped this time. We had a chat, both surprised that the other was out at this time. He hadn't noticed my absence in the morning, he'd been visiting family for the first time in years over the last few days and had just got back and had decided to take his dog out.

I go running around my estate in the morning and will often go for a walk in the evening.
No matter what time I go I always see the same man walking his dog.

I was driving down a road a few months back and a cat ran across the road in front of me. About 50m further up the same road a cat with the same markings ran across the road in front of me (both cats going from left to right so not the same one).

When I was about 14 I went on holiday with friends of the family. The daughter and I were sat reading in the hotel when there was an earthquake. We went through to her parents' room and after it was over and I went back to my book I picked it up and the first sentence I read was something like, 'The earth trembled.'

@BasilDiffuser that’s very strange I’d be interested to see the messages

Was at a gig in London on Thurs and we were walking back to the hotel round the streets of Deptford. I pointed out to dh a place in a corner that looks like a garage but it's actually a comedy club. He said I was talking nonsense and it looked more like an actual garage that was closed for the night. So I then told him about the big redbus a few streets away and as we wandered round, sure enough there was the big red bus.

Weirdest thing is - I have never ever been to this part of London before and I have a useless sense of direction so how did I know about these places? Shock

A friend visited me with her 6 month old baby. Unknown to her, I had a bag with a present and a booklet I had picked up in work that I thought would be useful to her. We sat at table getting a cuppa and the baby sorted out and she mentioned that she was thinking of buying a specific toy (outing so not saying but not a common baby present) and I laughed and said hang on ... I went over to the bag and pulled out the present and handed it to her. Exactly what she had mentioned. We were saying that that was a weird coincidence and then immediately she said That she was in the doctors yesterday and saw there's a website that has suggestions for activities to do with the baby ... and I went back to the gift bag a d pulled out the booklet for that exact website (not a well known one).
We were a bit freaked. She had not been anywhere near the bag.

Years ago I got off a bus with baby DD and as it pulled away I realised she had left her taggie blanket on the bus. We went off shopping for a few hours and then got a different bus route home. We got to our stop and just after I got off the bus door opened again and someone shouted out “is this yours?”. And it was the taggie blanket. I was Shock. It was hours later on a different route but someone we ended up on the same bus 🤷‍♀️

No. It’s a pile of fruit.

Many years ago I was on a coach trip with my DM and the coach had stopped in Harrogate for a couple of hours. We walked round the shops for a while, and then we needed to check the time so we weren't late back for the coach to depart. DM realised her watch had stopped and I didn't have mine on. I immediately said don't worry, I'll go into that shop over there and look at the clock on the wall.
I'd never been to that town before in my life, and I still have no idea how I knew not only which shop to go into, but also exactly where to find the clock on the wall, and what the clock looked like.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 07/03/2020 13:59

The other day my boos, her deputy and a woman walking in building were wearing exactly the same combination of colours even when one of them has not been in fashion for years.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 07/03/2020 14:00

I also came out of my house one day and every single car parked in the street (about 20) were grey.

@BasilDiffuser first set of messages in blue look like they were sent through iMessages, is it possible that Tim previously had that number and still has his iCloud account linked to it?

ANuggetOfTheFinestGreen · 07/03/2020 14:22

@BogOffWinter quite often on a long journey I've gone off the motorway or dual carriageway to use the services, got back onto the road and re-overtaken coaches and lorries that must have caught up whilst I was off the road, often wondered if the drivers/passengers notice!

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/03/2020 14:23

I had an incident where my friend text me, but the message went to my ex's phone. After calling (and complaining to) the phone company, they said that if, for whatever reason, the message couldn't get to my number/phone, it will "bounce around in the ether" trying to find somewhere to go. In this case, it found my old phone, which my ex had, despite me having reset it and him having a separate SIM with his own number on. Fml.

So, @BasilDiffuser as Tom sold an old phone on? Maybe Tim bought it?

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 07/03/2020 14:28

I remember when I was a young teen there was always an old black and white movie on a saturday afternoon which me and my mum used to like to watch.
She popped to the kitchen to put the kettle on and called out " what do u fancy for tea?" And the scene in the film was a man in a cafe and he shouted back " steak and chips please Jill !" - my mums name!! We still laugh about it now Grin

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 07/03/2020 14:31

Oh and another one . I was looking for a cleaner and called a number in the local paper, an older lady started huffing and puffing and said this is the wrong number . I apologised profusely but she said hang on though my friend might be interested- and she was ! Her friend called me back and was my cleaner for years until we moved
