Tell me about your 'glitch in the Matrix' moments

Yesterday I was driving to the supermarket and was listening to an old 80's classic (Saint Elmo's Fire) via Spotify on the car's entertainment system. I pulled into a parking space and disconnected my phone, the car reverted to the radio default and picked up EXACTLY where the song had left off on my Spotify. Initially I thought I hadn't disconnected properly but then realised it was just a really weird glitch in the Matrix.

Loving these.
I used to work in a basement photography shop on my own.
One day my ex father in law walked in. "Oh hello, what are you doing here?" I said.
He lived an hour away and we hadn't seem each other for a while. But he was a keen photographer and i was pleased to see him.

He looked at me quizzically and after a moment it dawned on me that it must be his identical twin brother who apparently has exactly the same dress sense and mannerisms and lived in my city.

"Sorry.. I'm breathmiller and you must be my father in law's twin brother. "
I shook his hand and said it was nice to meet him as I hadn't ever met him.

He started to look really strange and said he had no idea what I was talking about, he had no twin and didn't know who I was talking about. He was from much further away and was only visiting.

I tried to waffle that he must have two doppelgangers and that i felt i was talking to my father in law. I think he felt that he needed to back off from the strange women in a basement.

But it was uncanny. I genuinely felt like any minute now he would smile and say he was joking and it was my father in law.

My DH is called Tom. When we were younger we always used to call him Tim as a joke.
One day he had no signal for WhatsApp so I text him on his usual number. It was sent as a reply to a previous text if you what I mean and I could see our previous exchanges. He never replied but came in from work so I thought nothing of it.
A few days later I got a message from his mobile saying “I’m sorry who is this”.
We had a short exchange when I believed he was winding me up. Then I eventually I messaged him saying “oh shut up Thomas” to which he replied “My name is Tim” so obviously it was him winding me up. When DH came home he denied it was him which made me even more annoyed. Then a few days later I got a text saying “do you believe me, that this is the wrong number” and some of emoji which I ignored as I didn’t want to get into a joke with DH about it.
Then in January I got a text from the number saying he had lost his debit card. This was 100% from DH as he did lose his card that day and the timings all match up.
Now for the really odd part. One day I was on the phone to my sister when DH called me. I hung up on him as I wanted to finish my conversation. Then I called straight back by clicking on the message that you get sent when you miss a call. It rung for a few seconds before I got the voice mail “Hey this is Tim. Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now!” !!!!

I hung up straight away and double checked I had called the wrong number. Moments later my phone rang again with DH’s name on the screen and when I picked up this guy Tim was asking why I called?! So strange. It was definitely DH the first time as he asked why had hung up when he called.
I’ve still got the text on my phone. Will post them if anyone is interested.

@BorneoBabe I get the same, only Rachel. I didn't had it for years until recently when it started again.

Northernsoullover · 06/03/2020 20:33

My auntie had 3 jobs all on reception, one day per week in her brothers firm, and 2 days a piece in other places. In a period of 2 weeks the same courier delivered to each of the workplaces to be greeted by her each time. She fessed up by the 3rd time Grin

DD and I went to the funeral of DD's friend's DF the other week (suicide, so a double whammy of tragedy). Not only was he buried on the same day and month as my own dear departed DF, his birthday was the same day and month as well.

I've lost 10minutes walking from home to the station. Left at 8am, 7 minute walk got to the station at 8.17 exactly the time the train was due, only caught it as it was late. No idea what happened but was pretty disconcerting.

This morning, listening to radio in my car, DJ is talking and something he says makes me think of a particular song about 25 years old. It get stuck in my head. Walk into the office (no radio on) to find a colleague quietly singing the same song to himself. Can’t remember the last time I heard the song before this.

WhichBin · 06/03/2020 21:23

Every person I’ve thought about today, in my head, has contacted me, or I’ve bumped into them.

I’ve been a shit friend recently and so keep thinking, I need to call x/y/z...today, I haven’t needed to.

At school, many moons ago, there was a girl n my class with the same surname, exact birthday and relatively unusual sport hobby. We laughed when we found out, then never had much to do with each other for the rest of school. When social media happened I looked her up on friends reunited, but never connected, as we hadn’t really been friends. She had married and her first child had the same first name as mine. Later still, I heard from a mutual friend that her partner died the exact same day as mine.

Chatting with flatmates at the time about the public row between Roseanne Barr and her ex Tom Arnold. She had claimed his manhood was small and we were commenting on his response 'it was like trying to land a helicopter in the grand canyon.....one second later on tv was a shot of a helicopter flying inside the Grand Canyon.....

My son was born at 8.11pm and weighed 8.11lbs

SallyLovesCheese · 06/03/2020 22:28

Another of mine. When school age, I had a dream that a new girl arrived in my class. The next day, there was a new girl in my class.

Probably coincidence, or I heard the teacher talking about it the day before without it really registering at the time, but spooky nonetheless!

nosleepp · 06/03/2020 22:35

I once came out of a swimming baths with my then 1 year old, as we were walking back I didn’t know anywhere. The streets weren’t the same ones that I had walked to get to the swimming baths, there were no cars about and no people about. Then I realised I’d took a wrong turn, and people weren’t on the streets because it was an early morning swim.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 06/03/2020 22:37

A couple of times I’ve had a dream where at the end someone turns the light on and it’s all been a dream except when I do actually wake up the light is on.... @lways reminded me of inception too 😂 I’ve had tons of deja vu moments

scrivette · 06/03/2020 22:52

This week driving home I got stuck for ages behind a man riding a bicycle up a hill. He didn't look comfortable on his bike and was wearing grey/ordinary clothes (not a cycling outfit) and I glanced in my mirror as I went past and saw his face.

Five minutes later I passed him again.

There is no way he would have been able to overtake me as I didn't stop for long and I am pretty sure there aren't any short cuts.

TaterWaffle · 06/03/2020 22:59

Northernsoullover

I had a crappy day job at Currys. A girl I vaguely knew was in there and we had a brief chat.

Later on I was doing my evening shift at the body shop. The same girl came in and saw me, and was really confused!

Lucked · 06/03/2020 23:03

I never bother about competitions but there was a local raffle and I said to my husband “we are going to win that” I had a right palaver to get tickets but managed it. When I logged into check the winner he had the same first and last name as DH!

fuzzymoon · 06/03/2020 23:09

Eddie Stobart trucks used to be named with two girls names.
We drove passed one that had the same first and middle name as me.
The odd thing is that my names weren't well used at the time so it was really odd to see it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/03/2020 23:11

I used to drive past a retail park on my school run and there was one school week (ie 5 days in a row) when there was a radio ad for one of the retail park shops just as I drove past the entrance. Not the same shop, three different ones, but all in the (not huge) retail park.

icklepiglet · 06/03/2020 23:13

Shortly after midnight on the 6th June 2006 I received a text message taking the total number of messages on my phone to 666. That one still freaks me out a bit.

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/03/2020 23:14

I’ve witnessed someone else’s glitch.

I used to work for a high street opticians.
A man came in and started chatting about getting new glasses. As we we’re talking the optician came out of her room and started talking to the person she had just tested about frames.
The man I was with looked at her and started talking gibberish to me. He went off and came back 10 minutes later.
He returned with his prescription which is how we worked out why he was so confused. He had just had a test at a different store, performed by the identical twin sister of our optician.

Lurleene · 06/03/2020 23:16

My DD worked out her new cat's exact age this morning. He is 6 years, 3 months and 20 days old today. Today's date is 06/03/20.
Spooky.

Rayn · 07/03/2020 02:03

When I had my first baby in 2000 I gave him quite an unusual name. When I brought him home he was asleep in his car seat. I sat down on the sofa and put the TV on. Straight away there was an interview with someone on TV who had my baby's name. First name and surname!! That was spooky!

DropYourSword · 07/03/2020 03:58

@BasilDiffuser I’m sure there’s probably a logical explanation for yours but it’s really interesting and would have really baffled me!!

FrenchFancie · 07/03/2020 07:04

It’s not quite the same thing but... I drive a silver Yaris
I’ve come back to the car park and found mine in a line with two other identical yaris and yesterday driving up the motorway I was the middle car in a three car silver yaris sandwich!! I guess they are as common as muck around here for some reason
