I just finished his tour of Scotland thing....I hate myself for finding him attractive but I do, I always have.

I need a Scottish, overweight ginger curmudgeon in my life asap.

I can’t stand him. He’s got a porn addiction by his own admission, and his ‘jokes’ are tasteless and full of hate. He’s a really nasty piece of work.

Awrite · 29/02/2020 08:56

I used to like him. Saw him live once. Have gone totally off him since he's so open about his hatred of women.

Even dh has gone off him and he is often seen eye rolling at my feminist rants.

when little girls across the UK were watching and admiring sporting stars such as Rebecca Adlington, Jessica Ennis and Victoria Pendleton – Boyle’s first instinct was to cram these stellar female athletes back in the sex-fantasy box, and describe himself masturbating about them, raping or otherwise abusing them. Adlington was “a bit of a challenge-wank”; Ennis “I couldn’t go out with Jessica Ennis. Couldn’t go out with someone who wouldn’t feel it when I punched them in the stomach. I’d end up having to pay for an abortion.”; Pendleton: “Victoria Pendleton can lift twice her own body weight. Which is sexy, ’cause it means she still wouldn’t be able to throw me off.”

Oh yes, he so intelligent Confused Envy

edgewater · 29/02/2020 08:57

The comments he made about Katie Price’s son Harvey were disgusting.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 29/02/2020 09:01

Constance That is literally stomach churning. Envy

Snowdropdelight · 29/02/2020 09:02

I've never got past him using people with ld as his target.

I find him reprehensible. I cannot believe the BBC allow him on.

People with ld can't fight back its Vile.

LucilleBluth · 29/02/2020 09:15

Oh come on, I work with teenagers with semh issues. Yes he may have crossed a line here and there but words used in a comedy routine are not the same as someone on the street being offensive.

It could be argued that comedy and the use of words to elicit a reaction is an art form.

His tour of Scotland thing is wonderful imo.

They are worse. They set the tone. They embolden.

ConstanceSalinger · 29/02/2020 09:24

Yes you could argue that joking about raping Jessica Ennis, an elite athlete who has not courted his attention in any way, is art. But it would make you look like a twat.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 29/02/2020 09:28

I think offensive jokes can be very funny. But I don't think a joke is automatically funny because it's offensive. The examples upthread are both unfunny and offensive, in my view (appreciate others may disagree).

carlyclock · 29/02/2020 09:34

A couple of dodgy jokes doesn't negate an entire career

It really should if your career is as a comedian.
I mean someone working in an office job making a shit joke on tea break? Fair enough. Someone who makes a living out of telling jokes? Not ok.

I'm actually really surprised that anyone would be willing to post in his defence. The man is disgusting and has proved so over and over again. His only appeal I thought was to those with somewhat lower intelligence who don't really understand that it's not ok to be a cunt.

Frenchw1fe · 29/02/2020 09:40

@LucilleBluth how do you feel a out Bernard Manning?

Frenchw1fe · 29/02/2020 09:41

about

chomalungma · 29/02/2020 09:43

Does Frankie Boyle take the piss out of people like him - or does he just target other people - often in oppressed minorities?

Samcro · 29/02/2020 09:52

op you do realise thugs like him normalise taking the piss out of disabled people??
or do you do that too?

gamerwidow · 29/02/2020 09:55

Does Frankie Boyle take the piss out of people like him yes a lot of his set is with him as the butt of his jokes as being a sad old man.

His tour of Scotland thing is wonderful imo.
yes it really is. Oh well the others will just have to miss out Grin

LucilleBluth · 29/02/2020 09:57

Of course he takes the piss out of himself. I get an inkling that the people who are vehemently against him have just read headlines.

Go on iPlayer and watch his latest stuff.

What do I think of Bernard Manning...I think I'm not over 50 and couldn't tell you anything about him with any authority.

So if a man / women who you work with made those same remarks you wouldn’t have a problem with it or them !! Nice person

ConstanceSalinger · 29/02/2020 10:04

"When someone tells you who they are, you should listen" credit Mumsnet.

chomalungma · 29/02/2020 10:04

Go on iPlayer and watch his latest stuf

I have seen him on Mock the Week and some other 'sets'.

I know what he was like in the past.
Maybe he's changed.....

LittleBearPad · 29/02/2020 10:10

Lovely suits.

Tour of Scotland is wonderful.

Some of his jokes aren’t.

OlaEliza · 29/02/2020 10:10

If you think what he says is ok and shouldn't ruin his career, what's the difference between his 'jokes' and Danny Baker's monkey tweet?

Twat.

LucilleBluth · 29/02/2020 10:13

Really! You don't understand professional comedy. Please go and watch some Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle....your mind may be blown, it certainly needs opening.

OP posts:
chomalungma · 29/02/2020 10:15

Really! You don't understand professional comedy

Can you explain professional comedy? What is it about professional comedy that people don't understand?
