Does anyone work for 111?

My partner is waiting on a call back from 111 re Coronavirus, he went to northern Italy very briefly and now has the flu. We obviously don’t think it’s Covid-19, but are going to follow any isolation guidelines given. We rang yesterday at 4PM and haven’t got a call back yet, we can’t decide whether we could get a middle of the night call or if it’ll just be normal working hours. Anyone who can shed any light on this would make me very happy

I don’t work for them but have had midnight/1am call backs from them before.

puds11 · 28/02/2020 21:28

Also don’t work for them but would assume they are dealing with insanely high cell volumes at the moment. You could call back?

forrestgreen · 28/02/2020 21:35

My local hospital has a pod dedicated to the testing but don't go by taco or public transport. Have a look on their Facebook page

forrestgreen · 28/02/2020 21:35

Ha taxi!!

HindsightIs2020 · 28/02/2020 21:38

I don't work for them, but often have to phone them as part of my job.

If you've not been phoned back by now, you'll have been forgotten. It happens that sometimes things don't go through correctly. You'll need to phone back, although they might be able to find your details so you don't need to go through everything again.

FelicityBeedle · 28/02/2020 21:45

Oh we’ve called back a few times and got confirmation we are still on the list.
Actually just got a call back now, we’re both in isolation and my partner is to get tested tomorrow

Recently went to Italy and now had flu. Why is it obviously not corona?

FelicityBeedle · 28/02/2020 21:52

Because he was only in Italy for two hours, skiing in another resort and popped over for the morning, and not to a quarantined area. I’m not saying it definitely isn’t covid-19 but seems more likely to be a dose of man flu.

Good luck. Were you in an affected area in Italy? I think I’d be thinking corona if I was you.

puds11 · 28/02/2020 21:54

Sorry, updated as I posted

FelicityBeedle · 29/02/2020 14:54

If anyone is interested we had to drive to the nearest hospital with an infection prevention nurse today, about an hour away and he got swabbed in the car while the nurse was all gowned up. Results Monday

chocolateisavegetable · 29/02/2020 18:34

FelicityBeedle · 01/03/2020 00:37

If it makes you feel any better I’m still waiting for 111 to ring me back after 10 days for my sons spider bite! He’s 7. I get that the virus is important but it would have been nice for them to acknowledge that my kiddo was bitten by a spider and at the point I rang them it was raised and red.

Luckily it’s gone down now.

TheNoiseHurts · 01/03/2020 08:10

Taco 😁

Hope your DH is ok but it sounds likely that it is the coronavirus to me. Too much of a coincidence.

CallmeAngelina · 01/03/2020 09:09

I would think he's more likely to have caught something coming back on the plane from other travellers from the general region than he is to have got from skiing out in the fresh air for a couple of hours with goggles and a snood probably covering his mouth.

NachoNachoMan · 02/03/2020 09:41

Have you heard anything yet, @FelicityBeedle ? How's he doing?

FelicityBeedle · 02/03/2020 14:21

Nope nothing yet, assuming this means that they didn’t get the sample off Saturday night. Guessing we’ll hear tomorrow

TheNoiseHurts · 02/03/2020 16:58

I was wondering whether you got the results yet.

No news is good news????

Rosecatter · 02/03/2020 18:37

I don't work for 111, but I do work for the NHS business services authority and we got told last week they were recruiting /redeploying people to 111 because of the huge demand on the service at the moment.

foamrolling · 02/03/2020 18:41

Fingers crossed he's OK. I work for 111 but where I am you would have been passed through to public health for a call back as they are the ones arranging testing.

Josh, you do realise nobody would have just not bothered to ring you back because they felt it wasn't important enough? It's far more likely some human error where a phone number was inputted incorrectly or something.

Blobbyweeble · 02/03/2020 18:48

I am currently doing a secondment with 111 and it’s absolutely manic. The corona virus queue is immense and there’s still all the other things people phone about to deal with.

FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2020 15:17

Finally got the all clear! Just need to isolate until these symptoms resolve now

OP posts:
swingchandelier · 03/03/2020 15:27

You need to isolate even though it’s not Corona? Why’s that?

Good news though!
