My partner is waiting on a call back from 111 re Coronavirus, he went to northern Italy very briefly and now has the flu. We obviously don’t think it’s Covid-19, but are going to follow any isolation guidelines given. We rang yesterday at 4PM and haven’t got a call back yet, we can’t decide whether we could get a middle of the night call or if it’ll just be normal working hours. Anyone who can shed any light on this would make me very happy

Yay

Oh. That doesn't make sense. If it's not corona why isolate. Surely you're just ill?

I guess it’s an insurance policy Against a false negative? He’s been granted paid time off work so not too bothered reallt

It's also because he has an illness that's probably contagious. So if he passes it into someone, they'll think they have coronavirus symptoms and have been in contact with someone who has been to an affected area, so they'll want to be tested. But the system will soon get overwhelmed if they test everyone, so they want to try to reduce unnecessary testing.

I was sent by 111 to local hospital on Sunday for a swab test. Was in italy for a week and have been unwell. It's Tueaday evening now and still no update.

Are you ok Kurri

ChristmasCarcass · 03/03/2020 23:32

forrestgreen you’re still meant to self-isolate for the flu! Nobody wants to catch that off you either! Wink

HappyHammy · 03/03/2020 23:33

There is a corona111 online query website. You get asked questions. I havent filled it in so dont know what advice it gives out.

Well dd2 was tested last Wednesday and we're still waiting. Passed from GP to hospital and back. No one seems to know. She can't go back to school until she's got the result! I imagine the system is overloaded, but it's quite frustrating.

The tests can only be so much per cent correct. I think the ables who are in japan said there's were only 70% correct that's why there being retested constantly after getting infected and the tests can give false negatives. If said flu doesn't go within two weeks I'd probably be asking to be retested.
