If you only have a wedding band and not an engagement ring...

Please could you show me it?

He and I are not at that stage yet but I suspect it will be a short engagement if it comes to pass. I've been engaged before and it didn't actually turn into a marriage. So I already have a big rock sitting in my jewellery box and no desire to bother with that again.

If you didn't bother with an engagement ring, do you have a much blingier band to make up for it?

Thanks! :-)

These are my engagement and wedding bands. I wear both everyday. Love a little bit of bling! Platinum with diamonds

I wasn't enthusiastic about marriage and saw it as "just a piece of paper" when I was young and a bit more militant. We agreed to an "engagement" of sorts and we bought wedding bands. We had 2 kids and got married a few years after this to make a visa application easier (it didn't because I kept my own name.)
I've been wearing this ring for 26 years.........and good grief I need to moisturise! My hands look very old Shock

Plain, thin gold band. It's very elegant.

JingsMahBucket · 28/02/2020 19:45

Mine is thin yellow gold with a kind of arrow/leaf pattern: www.catbirdnyc.com/nora-ring.html. I didn't want an engagement ring for several reasons:

-- We were watching our budget and wanted to pay for several people to attend our wedding.

-- I don't like huge stones anyway.

-- I didn't want stones because they're mostly likely to be ethically bad. I didn't want the blood of other brown people being used to mine my ring. Ex: blood diamonds, poor mining practices, etc. I wanted recycled gold or a man-made stone if a ring really caught my eye.

-- Just didn't feel like wearing two rings.

I got my wedding ring from Silverado for £20!

I couldn't decide what wedding ring I wanted to so I had to panic buy a back-up one!

I still haven't found one.
I like silver and no one likes putting diamonds into silver so...🤷🏼‍♀️

lakeswimmer · 28/02/2020 20:24

White gold, smooth band with a tiny slither of diamond running down it vertically. It looks completely plain until the light catches the diamond and makes it glint. It was made to order by a jeweller in Nottingham and I still love it's simplicity after almost 20 years.

I didn't want an engagement ring - I didn't see the point and we didn't have an "engagement" as such - we just discussed getting married a few times and then eventually got round to planning a wedding.

EverythingChanges321 · 28/02/2020 20:39

I roughly sketched the design for my ring with a Diamond held between two Celtic knots and had it made by a jewellery designer in the U.K.
It has meaning for us.
I’m not really into jewellery so this is the only piece I wear.

RandomMess · 28/02/2020 20:48

Mine is one half rose gold one half white gold and a ring of diamonds between the two.

Eternity and wedding band in one as already had DC together.

Toria70 · 28/02/2020 20:57

Mine's very similar to this. I actually had a traditional gold band and diamond engagement ring until the diamond fell out of the ring on a dog walk in the year of our 25th wedding anniversary Sad This is the replacement I had from the insurance. I really like it because it's so simple, and the 3 bands represent our 3 DC.

This is mine and I love it!

It's not as oxidised anymore (don't take rings off to wash hands in office bathroom etc) but it doesn't bother me.

Plain yellow-gold wide band

ApplesAndCheese · 28/02/2020 21:13

We have just chosen our wedding rings - plain platinum bands.

I'm not a blingy person and didn't see the point in an engagement ring - plus we couldn't afford one at the time. However I have worn my grandmother's beautiful diamond engagement ring on my right hand since I was given it on my 18th birthday, and I was given my mum's diamond engagement ring when she died (I don't wear it as the setting gets caught on everything), so I reckon I'm all good for diamond rings Grin

I have a 3 colour gold Russian wedding ring, a bit like the one upthread, but chunkier and no stones. Love it.

user1471541467 · 28/02/2020 21:33

@Afolnerd your ring is beautiful. Where is it from?

KenzoBaby · 28/02/2020 21:35

I've been looking at this one for years:
www.tiffany.co.uk/jewelry/rings/atlas-open-ring-GRP07039/

But I think my tastes have changed and I'm keener now on a really slim band with diamonds.

And don't want to spend silly money!
I have small hands so I think easier to just stick with one ring!

Thanks again all :-)

This is mine - 22 carat but probably the thinnest you can get. I love it though

bagsofbats · 28/02/2020 21:39

I have a widish titanium band with one tiny diamond, I love it.

TigerDroveAgain · 28/02/2020 21:41

Here’s mine: I think it’s a tobacco leaf pattern

Quicknamechange2020 · 28/02/2020 21:41

I’m probably getting married without an engagement ring (unwell we find some money hidden under a floorboard) so will just get a platinum diamond wedding ring. Diamonds half way round the band.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 28/02/2020 21:45

I have two: one that I got married with and another, fancier one. I wear them both. They were both from H. Samuel and are both 9ct gold.

FlamingoAndJohn · 28/02/2020 21:49

Ours are silver with a tiny band of gold.
We got them bespoke made in a jewellers in Brighton where we lived at the time. They were originally mat on one side of the gold and polished on the other.
I think I remember them costing about £60 total 20 years ago. (Dh has a matching one)

kazzymac · 28/02/2020 21:52

Here my one, bought in 2015 for an elopement to Vegas! I love it even though it's not quite a sparkly as it was back then!
