Overwhelmed by M&S hot x bun choice - help!

I was in M&S today and saw the hot cross buns. Decided to buy some, but was so inundated by the heady varieties that I ended up with the boring regular 'luxury' ones.

Are the other flavours good? Which are best?? I want to be better prepared next time I go in.

Chilli and cheese are amazing!

SillyBub · 28/02/2020 17:33

You have to try them all. It's the only way.

WickedlyPetite · 28/02/2020 17:37

They're all lovely and their website has serving suggestions for them all too.

Chilli cheese served with crispy bacon on them are amazing.

Shadow01 · 28/02/2020 17:37

Chilli and cheese!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/02/2020 17:40

Definitely get the chilli and cheese ones.

CheesePleaseLoueese · 28/02/2020 17:47

I was disappointed with the chocolate chip ones. Stick with the classic ones!

I would give the savoury chilli and cheese a go, though...

popcorndiva · 28/02/2020 17:49

My fave are still the salted caramel and chocolate

Tried the chilli cheese ones but wasn't hot cross bun enough for me

You see, this is how the world ends up in a mess. We don't need all this choice. Creating choice dilutes markets.
40 car types exist = 38 healthy car manufacturing businesses
150 car types exist = 148 struggling car manufacturers

10 women's clothes stores exist with one branch each within 30 miles = 10 healthy women's clothes stores businesses.
30 women's clothes stores exist some with 6 branches each within 30 miles = 2 healthy women's clothes store businesses and high streets dying.

Hot Cross bun flavours are the tip of the ice berg. There is only so much of anything a market can take before saturation occurs and collapse follows.

The luxury apple ones are the best.

AlexaAmbidextra · 28/02/2020 18:07

I looked out for the chili and cheese. My M&S had every variety except those. Sulking now. ☹️

8by8 · 28/02/2020 18:10

The Apple ones are amazing. Bit of butter. Done.

The salted caramel ones are great but very sweet, more like a pudding than a snack - we have them with vanilla ice cream.

Bezalelle · 28/02/2020 18:55

I'm going to have to go back tomorrow, aren't I?

The blueberry ones are amazing.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/02/2020 19:17

I prefer Aldi hot cross buns (misses point)

fluffedupferretonsteroids · 28/02/2020 19:20

Any that are chocolate and caramel are my absolute weakness, m&s, aldi, Asda. I could eat a whole pack in one go.

Gatekeeper · 28/02/2020 19:23

the bramley apple ones are wonderful; didn't like the chilli ones one bit gave me heartburn

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/02/2020 19:26

The apple ones are best. Chilli and cheese aren't traditional enough for me and also a bit too rich and cheesy, I could only eat half at a time. Just the right amount of chilli though.

bettybyebye · 28/02/2020 19:26

The apple ones are the best! But I’m really hoping that Aldi do their rhubarb and custard ones again this year...they were amazing!!!

GinnyStrupac · 28/02/2020 19:29

We are traditionalists in HXBs and only have the original ones. One DS put leftover chocolate spread from Shrove Tuesday on his HXB today and declared it to be delicious. It is too early to be HXBing really, but they were reduced and I have another DC who is addicted to them.

AlpineSnow · 28/02/2020 19:29

So far from Waitrose, Marks and Tesco I've tried. Chocolate and cherry, st clements, chocolate and salted caramel, apple and cinnamon, chocolate and orange. I still have blueberry, marmalade and golden (syrup) to try

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 28/02/2020 19:29

They are all horrible and not like HCBs should be. Too doughy, too spongy - they should be light and airy, Put the proper ones in a toaster and they take no time to brown - these take at least 2 tries! Please someone tell me where I can get HCBs like they used to be!

GinnyStrupac · 28/02/2020 19:30

Having said that, I second the pp about Aldi R&C ones!

Well aren't you a bundle of joy? Hmm

AgeLikeWine · 28/02/2020 19:44

The chilli & cheese ones are amazing, M&S didn’t wimp out on the 🌶 so they are properly spicy.

ThisIsBlossoms · 28/02/2020 19:47

Oooo I love the Apple ones, but now need to try chilli and cheese!
