How often do you reuse a cup?

Biancadelrioisback · 26/02/2020 08:33

I usually drink cups of coffee or tea throughout the day at work and will just use the same cup all day (quick rinse if swapping from coffee to tea) but my colleague needs a fresh cup every time.

Do you reuse or get a fresh one?
If you reuse, how long would you leave it between uses before you had to get a fresh one?

I will routinely use the same cup a second time. Maybe third time if I've been able to drink all the previous one and not left dregs. This would be over a few hours (half day rather than all day).

Seeline · 26/02/2020 08:37

I use the same cup all day, but I only drink tea. May be more fussy if I mixed my drinks.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/02/2020 08:37

I use the same cup all the time but swill it out between refills unless it's been a few hours since its last use, in which case I wash it properly. I don't like the taste of old milk. I only drink tea.

I wash it every time as I find the tannins build up and stain the inside of the cup if you don’t

Biancadelrioisback · 26/02/2020 08:39

I drink my tea and coffee black if that makes a difference.... I suppose if they were milky I might notice that it was a reused cup?

Same mug all day.

Biancadelrioisback · 26/02/2020 08:40

All the cups go in the dishwasher at the end of the day and the cleaner is really good at making sure no cups are stained. So they all come out looking fresh and white

Same mug all day. Wash it once a day.

abitoflight · 26/02/2020 08:42

Same mug all day
Only drink herbal teas so no milk

coconuttelegraph · 26/02/2020 08:42

Same mug all day, as does everyone else as they have their own cups from home or ones they prefer, I don't know anyone who gets a new one each time.

Pilot12 · 26/02/2020 08:44

I use one cup per day, take it out of the cupboard in the morning and put it in the dishwasher at night. DP has one cup for coffee and one for tea.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 26/02/2020 08:44

Same mug all day.

Biancadelrioisback · 26/02/2020 08:45

Oooooo we're not allowed our own cups from home. We have branded ones

Same mug all morning and sometimes all day. I rinse between uses and wash if I'm changing drinks.

Fresh mugs every time seems to be creating a huge amount of extra washing up. I know they're in the dishwasher but she's needlessly filling up space. Would she be using a fresh mug each time if someone else wasn't sorting the washing up?

Spam88 · 26/02/2020 08:52

At home I use one cup a day. My DH is an animal and will use a cup for multiple days.

Work is a totally different ball game though. I don't really drink hot drinks there, but generally people don't wash their cups until the tannin build up is so significant that the capacity of the mug is markedly reduced.

Putthebinsoutalan · 26/02/2020 08:54

Clean cup every time, it's ridiculous I live on my own and the dishwasher fills up in 2 days.

Damntheman · 26/02/2020 08:54

One cup all day :) I have favourites, at home it's the biggest mug in the house! At work I have a magisso infuser cup as then I can have proper tea instead of the wank teabags you get in Norway. It gets washed at the end of the day. It's fine! New cup every time is a bit wasteful.

Oblomov20 · 26/02/2020 08:56

Same mug all day, at work. Don't even rinse!

Enko · 26/02/2020 09:07

For me it depends on how long inbetween each drink. So in the evening where we have a pot of tea on the go I have the same mug throughout. During the day where it may be 2-3 hours inbetween I change mug. However if I have 2 cups close after each other i do not change.

Biancadelrioisback · 26/02/2020 11:01

At 11am he is on his third cup of the day!

Only drink tea, use the same cup all day and wash it up at home time - same at home too.

What do you drink out if your mug then?

OP posts:
HaddawayAndShite · 26/02/2020 11:13

1 cup all day. I don’t understand needing a clean mug between each cuppa but even so just wash it? Plus I have a favourite mug so I don’t want to use anything else. Especially communal work mugs that never are properly clean!

AuntieMarys · 26/02/2020 11:13

Clean one every day at home. That's what dishwashers are for
