Who's looking forward to Pancake Tuesday?!

Even though I spend ages at the cooker dishing up all the pancakes and have to wait ages for my own, I am so much looking forward to them!

Working FT so ours will be dinner, though we never go the savoury route. It will be a selection of lemon & sugar, golden syrup, raspberries, banana, nutella, raspberry jam and (squirty) cream - just thinking about it makes me happy Smile

So, what will you put on yours?!

Best day of the year!

I have massively cheated. I bought 6 already made in a packet. Had three yesterday (to test them obvs) and will have the 3 other today. Just sugar and lemon juice with them of course.

Does nobody else do the BUTTER, lemon and sugar topping - all melts into the hot off the pan pancake and makes almost a sauce? I wouldn't like them as much with just lemon and sugar...

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 25/02/2020 14:20

well I put quite a bit of melted butter into my batter @caperplips, but still might give that a go...

I've decided my first pancake will be topped with lemon curd, raspberries and squirty cream. Next will be nutella, sliced banana, mini marshmallows and squirty cream. And I'll finish off with a good old fashioned lemon & sugar one.

I love butter on them. Mmm

caperplips · 25/02/2020 14:34

Ahem @LifeInAHamsterWheel I also put melted butter in the batter as it stops them from sticking at all.

I then don't use any oil / butter and certainly NOT lard in the pan (can't even imagine tasting that!!)

Found myself on pancake making duty for the cubs. (Turns out no other parent volunteered.) Actually best pancakes I made. I had one with yoghurt and redberries.

Chocolate buttons in the middle and a sprinkling of sugar on top.

Made a complete dog's breakfast of my pancakes - they all broke up Sad.

We still ate them and they tasted OK but I'm annoyed at myself.

Actually did really well with my pancakes it's usually DH's domain but DS did not seem impressed at all so I feel a little deflated by it all - no pun intended Grin

JMAngel1 · 25/02/2020 20:00

whatever batter is made at the beginning us all that is made! there us no way I would make batter 3 times!
I got mine last as usual - ended up having bacon and maple syrup followed by malteser spread with icing sugar - big fat american style ones - I feel sick now!

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/02/2020 23:28

I made batter twice. The dc had 6 each. Ddog had 7 (I let the dc all toss their own. Ddog much prefers it that way as more opportunity to eat floor pancakes).

caperplips · 26/02/2020 09:45

we had ours at 10.30pm last night! And they were lovely!
Dd had an after school activity so we got McDonald's drive thru pancakes and syrup and coffee on the way to that. Got home 8pm and I made dinner (thai red chicken curry) and while dinner was cooking I made up the pancake batter.

No-one was hungry for pancakes straight afterwards so I let the batter sit in the fridge. At about 10pm dd asked if we could have them so I cooked 6 pancakes (2 each) dd had melted dairy milk and fresh rapsberries in hers, dh had brown sugar and lemon spinkled on his, I had butter, caster sugar and lemon juice on mine. Clearly mine were the nicest.

I make very thin, crepe style pancakes.

Might actually make more this evening as have some batter left...
