WTF is going on down there?! Way TMI

EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 06:50

I have had a bit of itching down there for a week or so now. After judicious use of a mirror I've just seen that I have a big flesh coloured bulge all along my perineum joint onto my vulva.

WTF is that? It's a COMPLETE nightmare getting a Dr appointment as I need to leave for work before they are released for the day and I don't want to just start using medication down there in case it makes things worse!

Argh! Help!

I think you just need to get on the phone to the GPS and if you’re late then so be it

caffeinefix · 20/02/2020 06:55

Have you had an episiotomy in the past?

EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 07:08

No I've never had an episiotomy or anything like that. It's tricky with the Dr, if I leave at after 8.30 (when reception opens) I won't get to work until probably 10am. Which is ok as a one off (can make up the time) but not day after day if I keep being unable to make an appointment!

Sounds like it might be a Bartholin cyst - have a google and see if it matches up with your description.

TSSDNCOP · 20/02/2020 10:31

If it is a Bartholin (the ones I get are smaller than you’re describing but in the same area) it will start as itching and move rapidly to exquisite agony. Time spent now on a GP appt will be time well spent, I promise you.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2020 10:39

Could well be a Bartholin Cyst as PP say. I had one for Christmas once, it was agony. It popped before I managed to get a doctor's appointment-the relief!
Hot baths helped a bit.

FraglesRock · 20/02/2020 10:46

Have you got a sex health clinic. We can just pop in there

EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 10:47

Hmm thanks all, but googling Bartholin Cystthe placement seems off? Mine doesn't protrude into my vulva at all, more along my perineum and almost like it joins the bottom of the labia??

jessycake · 20/02/2020 11:00

Could it be www.nhs.uk/conditions/lichen-planus/

TSSDNCOP · 20/02/2020 11:07

Sparkling that’s the very reason I have a list at Christmas, no unwanted surprises Grin

EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 11:21

@jessycake hmmm maybe? It's not white it's flesh coloured but maybe a bit like the first picture in that article?

It's driving me mad, the bloody itch!!

OP posts:
EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 11:23

It looks more like a long puffed up skin tag or something??

Whynosnowyet · 20/02/2020 11:25

Grateful no pic included op!!
Good luck though!

jessycake · 20/02/2020 11:25

What ever its is , I hope you feel better soon x

bilbodog · 20/02/2020 11:28

My perineum sometimes gets sore and swollen and it hurts trying to poo and when wiping. Its happened again recently. I put antiseptic cream on it 2-3 times per day and after a few days it goes back to normal. I did see a dr when it first happened in my twenties and panicked but it wasnt anything to worry about -just uncomfortable.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 20/02/2020 11:34

@Whynosnowyet haha you're welcome

@bilbodog but you never found out why? Sad

I'd second the suggestion to go to a sexual health clinic. You might find that there's one on the way to work you can go to.

They are the experts on down below and nowadays if I had anything untoward going on with vulva/vagina I would just go to the clinic. They also prescribe any medications much more freely than my GP does nowadays.

I find with my GP that if a medication is available over the counter then she won't prescribe it. I understand why, but I'm on a very tight budget and spending £6 on Canestan for misdiagnosed thrush hurts in more sense than one!

MissBax · 20/02/2020 11:37

If it looks like a skin tag it could pots tially be warts? Best just to get it checked!

Poutintrout · 20/02/2020 11:38

Is it a pile and the swelling is making the perineum swollen and itchy too? Maybe try a pile cream. It will take down the swelling and numb the area too.

PersephoneandHades · 20/02/2020 11:42

Could it be a large genital wart?

Namechange8471 · 20/02/2020 11:45

Warts/herpes

Sexual health clinic would be a good idea, not just for the above reason, they often treat cases of thrush etc.

I went once and was diagnosed with an ingrown hair follicle ( it had got infected )

slipperywhensparticus · 20/02/2020 11:46

Viva la vulva!

Take antihistamines to cope with the itch tell the receptionist your having problems in your intimate area and would appreciate
Her getting you in as a matter of urgency (well it works in my doctors)

Justkeeprollingalong · 20/02/2020 11:51

Can you ring on your mobile whilst on your way to work?

Herringbone31 · 20/02/2020 11:53

I had this!!! Last week!

I had some fusidic acid antibiotics cream. It took about 5 days to go down. First it was itchy. Then it was painfully itchy. Then it was sore. It’s gone away though now

I had it in the exact place as you .
