Leeds restaurant recommendation?

Bobbybobbins · 18/02/2020 15:40

My DH and I are spending a day/night in Leeds later in the year. We'd like to have a really nice meal but don't know the city at all.

We don't really want a chain restaurant but otherwise open to all suggestions!

Bibi's - i've always enjoyed it there

Lightsabre · 18/02/2020 15:44

We enjoyed a lovely meal at a recent visit to Sukothai.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2020 15:44

The man behind the Curtain. Don't know how long their waiting list is though.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2020 15:45

And Tharavadu if you like Indian food.

inicecoldblood · 18/02/2020 15:48

Tattu.

Any particular cuisine? Will you be in the city centre? These are some of my favourites:

Tapas:

https://www.ambiente-tapas.co.uk/restaurants/leeds-calls-landing/?utmsource=GL&utmmmedium=Website&utmcampaign=Google+ (tapas)

kendellsbistro.co.uk/ (french)

fazenda.co.uk/ (rodizio grill)

bundobust.com/ (Indian street food)

Sous le nez isn't glam at all but has amazing French food. The fillet steak stuffed with mushrooms sauce is good OF THE GODS.
For something more fun and cool I'd try Tattu. Stockdales is a nice steak house.

Bobbybobbins · 18/02/2020 16:20

Thanks so much everyone! We like all types of food so will look at them all

Please come back to let us know what you chose. I used to go to Leeds a lot and miss it, I want to dine vicariously through you Grin

Bobbybobbins · 18/02/2020 17:02

Spotted the Foundry which looks interesting if anyone had tried it?

OP posts:
Moooooooooooooooooo · 18/02/2020 17:19

Blackhouse is really lovely.

BigPinkFlower · 18/02/2020 18:38

Not been the foundry since it was taken over- but the location is great- pop into the northern monk brewery on the way . I have heard good things

ApocalypseNowt · 18/02/2020 18:39

Shears Yard is lush Grin

Dozer · 18/02/2020 18:42

Where are you staying?

CeeCeeEnnEss · 18/02/2020 18:43

Home! It’s absolutely delicious every time, and really great value (it’s pricey but it’s fancy).

Or the Indian Tiffin Room for street food in a restaurant.

MoMandaS · 18/02/2020 18:47

I came on say Matt Healy at the Foundry.

LizB62A · 18/02/2020 18:48

It's a chain but we had a really nice meal in Guacho in Leeds a couple of years ago if you're a meat eater (the only time I've ever been to Leeds)

LizB62A · 18/02/2020 18:48

argh: Gaucho !

MoMandaS · 18/02/2020 18:49

And you could have a drink at the Cross Keys or Midnight Bell afterwards.

MoMandaS · 18/02/2020 18:49

After the Foundry, I mean.

longcoffee · 18/02/2020 19:45

Fazenda! Wear stretchy trousers though.

Bobbybobbins · 18/02/2020 20:18

Oooh thanks, some great ideas! Looking forward to some nice drinks too!

We are staying at the Novotel. Fancy a visit to the covered market. Are there any other 'must sees'?

Fazenda, stupid thing to say but make sure you’re hungry! Tattu is good and beautiful.

champagneandfromage50 · 18/02/2020 20:24

I went to leeds with work and i booked chaophraya.co.uk/leeds/

had a great night

Igottastartthinkingbee · 18/02/2020 20:25

Go to the Victorian Quarter to gaze at the building/ceiling as much as the shops! Roundhay is lovely for a walk around the park and lake. Check out if there’s anything on at the theatre, Leeds playhouse has some different things on. Ooh and Millenium square sometimes has interesting things going on. Just down from there is the town hall and galleries. You’re going to be busy Grin
