Following the wave of 'Be Kind' posts on social media, tell me something kind someone has done for you today?

I'll start ... I'm currently on week 5 of Couch 2 5k, and this morning was huffing and puffing my way through a 5 minute jog while Micheal Johnson whispered in my ear that I only had another 2.5 minutes to go, when a lady I've never seen before wound down her window and yelled "Go on girl, keep going, you're doing great!"

She made me smile and kept me plodding Smile What kind thing has someone done for you today?

I've been stuck at home all day with DS who has chicken pox. MIL came round to relieve me for an hour so I could enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee and cake in our local cafe. Very kind of her. She's also having us round for lunch on Thursday Smile

A customer was kind of staring at my face and I was thinking what have I forgotten?! And she went "you have the most beautiful eyes!" And her friend agreed it has made me feel truly wonderful

AlphaJura · 18/02/2020 19:10

About 3 different people helped me with the buggy today when we were out using public transport, and up steps in McDonald's. 2 ladies on the train were nice and understanding even though dd was kicking off and having a massive tantrum because she was tired on the way home. Made it a bit more bearable!

BillieEilish · 18/02/2020 19:13

People on mumsnet have been extremely kind to me today Smile

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 18/02/2020 19:13

Sadly no one🙄I always try to be kind but actually rarely experience it back, still I don't think about that. Bit sad when I think about it now ..
Today I have

  • given 3 hours of my own time after work to do free staff training in a friend's school
-Bought my daughters and oldest's boyfriend a tiny cute chocolate bunny each cos I love them
  • bought extra food for the food bank with my shopping
Let that VERY annoying driver who drives up the other queue into my lane . That was tough 🤣🤣🤣
  • Went back to the supermarket in the rain to buy my niece a newspaper with tokens she needed.

The lovely receptionist at the dentist gave me a beautiful Moses basket for my little girl who is due in July. There is a huge almost 9 year gap between this baby and Ds2 and I’ve got rid of most of my original baby stuff in the interim.

kelper · 18/02/2020 19:23

DS said my bloody awful lasagne I cooked was nice and asked for seconds.
I've had an utterly low day and although he hasn't helped, that little comment made me smile

toffeeghirl · 18/02/2020 19:34

My mental health has been quite poor. Two friends have checked in to see if I need company or to talk. I rang the clinic to find out when my next appointment was due and the receptionist was so kind and warm (not always the case. I was dreading ringing.)
My son made me a cup of tea. They've all made getting through today much more bearable.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 18/02/2020 19:39

My health visitor cancelled my appointment to see DD a few weeks ago due to illness but she made a new appointment to come and see how I was and check I was doing ok as there was nothing on my notes, she knew DD was ok as I take her to clinic

megletthesecond · 18/02/2020 19:44

A young lad yelled "keep going gal!" when I was sauntering during a run. He had a point, I was going down a slope and wasn't really putting any effort in at that point.

Trumpspeach · 18/02/2020 19:51

my gorgeous but oft troubled DS1 (16) gave me an unexpected hug this morning.

CherryPavlova · 18/02/2020 19:52

Chap at station let me on ahead of him.
Another chap put my case on the luggage rack.
The bus driver stopped immediately outside my office to let me off because it was pouring down.
Concierge opened the security gates rather than making me dig around for my pass.
One on my staff brought leftover Christmas treats to share.
Another bought me a decent coffee from the restaurant.
My husband was home half hour earlier than me so had lit the fire and had a mug of tea waiting.

I think most people are kind.

Eminybob · 18/02/2020 19:59

There was the lady at the craft place we went to today who kept and eye on ds1 while I was on the phone to the doctor whilst also chasing after toddler ds2.

And then the lady at the chemist who let ds1 go in front of her in the queue so he could pay for his lolly pop.

Oh and dh’s colleague when I popped into his work who complimented me on my weight loss and told me I looked great.

Corneliawildthing · 18/02/2020 20:05

Nothing .
I would't want people who wouldn't normally have been kind to suddenly think they'd better do something kind because something onFacebook tells them to Confused

Poetryinaction · 18/02/2020 20:07

Some men came to quote for fixing my window. Instead they fixed the window and didn't charge me.

Stolenkisses · 18/02/2020 20:10

My lovely four year old son hugged me and said “woo mine hewo!” He has really delayed speech, so roughly translated “You are my hero!” It was probably something he has heard on television, but it was so sweet it brought a tear to my eye.

Sux2buthen · 18/02/2020 20:14

I've just got in from work and my 5 year old has made me a card with butterflies on it. He only taught himself how to draw butterflies at 5 o clock bless him.

Whynosnowyet · 18/02/2020 20:14

A man parked next to me gestured I could exit the car first - and smiled.
The vet's receptionist was very kind when I booked the appointment for ddog to be pts next week.
Sad

TheGreatWave · 18/02/2020 20:46

For me, it has just been a day of 'normality' that is people just doing what they do, holding doors, saying thank you, me helping them, they helping me. So just nothing special, but just what makes a day go better.

Cuddleandachat · 18/02/2020 21:03

My DH helped me to cook the sausages when he arrived home because I always burn them.

DS1 helped me to carry some shopping and showed me where I had parked my car in a car park.

peacebypeace · 18/02/2020 21:06

The checkout girl at M&S packed my bag for me and then rang the bell and asked another lady to take my shopping to the car. I had a sleepy toddler in my arms. I probably could have managed but it was so lovely of her to just help out. I was grateful and it made me smile.

SoapyChoc · 18/02/2020 21:09

I'm off sick at the moment but my colleague remembered I was due my hospital appointment today and sent me a lovely message first thing this morning wishing me luck.

Also all 3 clinicians I saw at the hospital were friendly and helpful and didn't rush even though they were running very late and it was 5.30pm by the time I was seen.

BakewellGin1 · 18/02/2020 21:12

DH has surprised me with a full spa day on Saturday, it is my birthday and he is working but wanted me to have a day without running after our two DS.

My parents have agreed to look after both DS.

Oldest DS has been amazing as always and watched his Baby Brother whilst I had a 10 minute bath and dried my hair.. Sometimes it's the small things.

Baby has learned to give cuddles and has spent tonight saying mwah mwah mwah and hanging round my neck.

Team Leader gave me a 30 minute flier as she knows it means I miss traffic.

Friend bought me a coffee as we went into work as I've had a few rough nights

chrestomamci · 18/02/2020 21:13

My eldest gave me half his packet of sweets when he got home from a trip to town. I'm laid up with a baby and back issue. Made my day

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 18/02/2020 21:14

My ds11 randomly said “can I just say mum, I love you so so much” and gave me a big hug. I nearly cried!
