Hot Cross Bun drama....

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 20:15

DH has just gone to the kitchen, got a hot Cross Bun, and has just eaten it as is.
No slicing it open, no toasting it, no butter.

How did I not know this about him before I married him Confused

This is aways a bone of contention in our house. I eat them cold, untoasted but slathered in butter, dp thinks this is an abomination as they must be toasted.

Bluetrews25 · 17/02/2020 20:51

I found some half price in Aldi today - so got 2 packets, obvs.
Eat cold when not enough time to toast. Works for me.

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 20:52

Is now a good time to admit that my 7 year eats kit kats by biting across the 4 fingers, instead of breaking them off....whst has DH created?!
DH has purposely eaten another one, because he now knows how disgusted I by it...

My mouth feels dry just reading your OP. Yuk!

twoheaped · 17/02/2020 21:10

I love mine toasted with cheese.
Got to be Booths hot cross buns, they are simply the best.

MrsEsss · 17/02/2020 21:12

Lemon curd? Cheese??

homemadecommunistrussia · 17/02/2020 21:14

Were they from asda? They need to be from asda, then au natural is fine.

MillieMoodle · 17/02/2020 21:15

Hot cross buns should be toasted and slathered in butter. Always. I feel so strongly about this that I started a thread about it on MN years ago, just to prove to DH that he is a monster for eating them untoasted.

@Thorilicious I can't even process the kit kat thing. What. The. Fuck Shock

DailyKegelReminder · 17/02/2020 21:23

Yum I'm with your DH here. From packet to mouth, same as scones.

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 21:25

@homemadecommunistrussia they are indeed FROM Asda, but that's no excuse. Please don't encourage him...

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 21:26

@MillieMoodle he makes me watch him eat them wrong. I try not to buy kit kats any more...

Biancadelrioisback · 17/02/2020 21:30

I've never had them any other way! Toasted and buttery is the way. Anything else is wrong! Like eating jam on bread Envy

bedtimebrew · 17/02/2020 21:52

Noooo!!! Your son is very very wrong. The big bite Kitkat eating makes me want to cry ...

Ps Now I need asda hot cross buns

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/02/2020 22:49

What’s wrong with jam on bread Confused

PenguinsOnParade · 17/02/2020 22:55

My DH does this too OP and I'm the same as you: must be toasted and buttered.

He now has youngest DD (his DSD) doing the same.

Marigold101 · 17/02/2020 22:58

I made a cheese sandwich with one tonight. Untoasted. Considered onion chutney but chickened out at the last minute, which I now regret. Lovely.

blackice · 17/02/2020 22:59

He's eating it the only way hot cross buns should be consumed.

ImportantWater · 17/02/2020 23:01

Hot cross buns may not be bought or eaten until Good Friday, so you are all savages.

PenguinsOnParade · 17/02/2020 23:06

I should add that my DH also eats them all year round. I don't even know how he finds them. I've caught him eating mince pies in the summer too.

Xmasbaby11 · 17/02/2020 23:08

I'll eat them any way! Always yummy.

happymummy12345 · 17/02/2020 23:25

&bianca can't beat a jam sandwich.

happymummy12345 · 17/02/2020 23:43

Also was the not envy comment in reference to my comment on another post? If so I'm not sure there's any need really..
