What to buy from USA

I'm very excited as about to go to the USA for 2 weeks. I haven't been for quite a few years!

I love nothing more than nosing around supermarkets and shops and buying stuff we can't get here in the UK. So help me: what are your USA must buys?!

They do a sleep supplement called melatonin in the pharmacies, whereas over here it's prescription only. Useful for jet lag, or if you sometimes struggle to sleep.

Candles from bath and bodyworks

CVS Day and Night Nurse. I finished my last bottle and I need it! The bastard stuff they sell over here ain't touching my cold'n'coff.No-how, no way.
I buy the shake over popcorn seasoning - cheese and chilli atm. Love it!

Chanel05 · 17/02/2020 18:19

Cheetos 🤤

Go to Denny's and order their hash browns. Then order another portion with a milkshake 🤤🤤🤤

Parkrunner25 · 17/02/2020 18:20

Dayquil and NyQuil. About 100 times more effectivel than day/night nurse.

RusholmeRuffian · 17/02/2020 18:21

I always buy:
Delsym grape flavoured cough medicine. Delicious and it works.
Melatonin.
Lemonhead sweets
Ridiculously cheap bras in Walmart

Henlie · 17/02/2020 18:25

Coach handbags/purses 😊

Katinski · 17/02/2020 18:36

Parkrunner yes it's NyQuil I buy.Confused
And all my handbags(and I've loads) come from America.

RachelTension · 17/02/2020 18:44

The Olly gummy supplements. I started with the sleep ones (which are amazing) then the ladies multi vitamin. Can get them in CVS I think.

I also love Trader Joe's ginger and almond soap and buy bricks of it to bring back. Also Sees Candies, THE Christmas chocolate, yum.

lljkk · 17/02/2020 18:47

The stuff I like to buy MNers sneer at so never mind that.
I suggest just poke around to see what you like.

mrsbyers · 17/02/2020 18:48

Sweets , chillis and condiments

squashyhat · 17/02/2020 18:48

Skippy extra crunchy peanut butter in 1kg jars. Keep some luggage allowance back for it - it's worth it!

Sausagis · 17/02/2020 18:50

Meatloaf seasoning 😁

berkshirecat · 17/02/2020 18:52

Ooh thank you so much everyone!! Love reading all your suggestions.

Yes I've read that melatonin is a good thing to buy! Are there any other useful medications they sell over there?!

DH is addicted to condiments if all kinds so now doubt we will end up with a few of those Smile

My office has also requested lots of US sweets!

Naproxen! If you have period or back pain it's a godsend as they sell in in a 12-hour slow-release dose.

Big things of anti-histamines if you have allergies.

If you have acne or know anyone who does, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. You might still need to mail order it over there to your hotel, but it's hard to get the 2.5% stuff in the UK. So frustrating at it's the most effective dose to treat acne but prevent irritation.

Be wary of buying lots of cough syrup or they will think you are making meth.

Pipandmum · 17/02/2020 19:04

Hostess cupcakes.

QueenOfOversharing · 17/02/2020 19:12

Neosporin - esp the ointment (or the generic one from Walgreens etc).

Cheetos

Differin (retinol).

Icecreamdiva · 17/02/2020 19:12

I used to buy UGG boots but they’re passé now. We buy Apple products -the savings can be great. The AirPods Pro which are £249 in the U.K. are £222 in the USA (that includes 8% NY sales tax). DH bought an IPad last year and saved over £100.
