Am I wrong for feeling livid

Queryoftheday · 15/02/2020 18:21

Name change....a family with a kid in my child’s nursery have just returned from a country in Asia after several weeks, and their child has gone straight back to the nursery. I’m thoroughly pissed off at the risk I feel they are posing to young children given the corona virus cases in that specific country. Am i dramatic?

OP posts:
Iwantcollarbones · 15/02/2020 18:22

Yes

marcopront · 15/02/2020 18:22

Was it China?

Aridane · 15/02/2020 18:22

Yes

Aridane · 15/02/2020 18:23

Does the child have a fever? or returned from mainland China?

Aridane · 15/02/2020 18:24

“Asia” ! - sort of like saying “Africa”

Aridane · 15/02/2020 18:26
  • is it China or Turkey or Afghanistan or the Maldives or BhutN?
Aridane · 15/02/2020 18:26

(Bhutan(

maddy68 · 15/02/2020 18:30

Asia is rather large and most areas of Asia have less cases than Europe. You're being ridiculous

AnduinsGirl · 15/02/2020 18:31

Um... Asia is a big place....

SapphosRock · 15/02/2020 18:33

Depends where in Asia doesn't it. Unless it was Wutan or nearby there's no need to be livid.

idontlike789 · 15/02/2020 18:34

Where about in Asia ?

It's like saying someone in Europe has died from corona ( in France ) and you went to say America and they reacted like you .
Yabvvvvvu read up the facts and stop bring so dramatic.

Queryoftheday · 15/02/2020 18:39

I’m not going to say the exact country as outing but they spent 3 weeks in this country that is in the top 10 countries for the virus.

OP posts:
Cacaca · 15/02/2020 18:40

A country in Asia? Small continent there. I’m sure if this country was deemed a risk they would be screened at the airport. Pathetic.

Cacaca · 15/02/2020 18:41

Ha ha ha - you’re the only person that knows someone with a child that has returned from Asia. Outing - please get a grip of yourself.

TrixieTheWhore · 15/02/2020 19:05

Statistically you are more likely to die from falling off a ladder, getting eaten by a shark, or being struck by lightning.

YABU

Insaneinthemembury · 15/02/2020 19:27

🙄

Helmlover1 · 15/02/2020 19:27

How do u know that they haven’t already been tested? And echoing previous posts, Asia is a pretty large continent. What do you expect, the poor kid and his family to live in isolation until you personally deem them not to be a risk?

Queryofthday · 15/02/2020 19:38

I would expect them to stay home for 8 days
once they return as symptoms show within 8 days.
I appreciate the chances are low but It’s still a serious situation. My bosses child’s school has said kids who have recently travelled to certain countries aren’t allowed in for 2 weeks.

L1appelDuVide · 15/02/2020 19:41

You know Asia itself and some of the countries within Asia are bloody huge don’t you OP?

The only 2 questions you need to ask yourself are:
Are they running a fever or signs of a respiratory illness and
Have they returned from mainland China.

L1appelDuVide · 15/02/2020 19:42

Should add that if the answers to those are ‘no’ then yes YABU.

slipperywhensparticus · 15/02/2020 19:44

FEVER IS NOT THE FIRST SIGN OF CORONA VIRUS that is SARS

SeeUNextTuesday · 15/02/2020 19:48

The official public health warning is for China, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Macau

L1appelDuVide · 15/02/2020 19:51

The official public health warning is for China, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Macau

AND theyre showing signs of fever and/or respiratory illness.

TorkTorkBam · 15/02/2020 19:52

Yes you are being dramatic.
