The boy done good - Valentine appreciation thread!

Last year my boyfriend and I had only been dating a few weeks, & couldn't spend the day together.

This year he's made me a personalised photo card with my all time favourite song lyrics printed in it, plus 12 red roses and a silly mug.

I think he might be a keeper.

Anyone else have a lovely Valentine?

Please can the VD haters keep away...I'm hoping to keep this a warm, fuzzy thread!

I haven't even see DH yet. He left for work at 5.00 and won't be back for another hour or so. I expect he's forgotten that it's Valentine's day but I'm genuinely happy about it. He shows me he loves me all year round. So much so that it doesn't upset me when he forgets a particular date. Love like that is awesome.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 14/02/2020 19:39

DH doesn't do Valentine's Day but seeing as he will randomly come home with different types of cake "just because", I have absolutely no issue with that whatsoever.

He doesn't even like cake.

fairyfingers · 14/02/2020 19:39

My dd1 with whom I have a somewhat fractious relationship (total daddy's girl) got me a card with her own pocket money at her own instigation. It's a really lovely funny quirky card and inside wrote that she loves me more than she can say.

I am not a massively emotional person but it has made my year and I had a little cry.

DH got me a bun. It was delicious

Not wishing to be a party pooper here - but why are people getting valentines gifts from their DCs? Or children they teach?

Really really odd.

MindyStClaire · 14/02/2020 19:44

We've been together forever, must be well over a decade since we last acknowledged valentine's Day. But DH was off sick today, so when he was in Tesco getting his lunch he picked me up some flowers in our wedding colours.

DD (nearly two) made us a card and decorated a bun in nursery so that's sweet.

fairyfingers · 14/02/2020 19:47

CoffeeRunner it's not usual here or expected which is what made it even more special

wineandsunshine · 14/02/2020 19:50

I received a lovely card from my husband that read, 'I love you millions, and got you a M&S card to prove it'

True love right there!

Ginbauble · 14/02/2020 19:54

We've been together for ever but he knows me so well, I got a card and a bag of cheeses from a v posh cheese shop.

I absolutely love cheese!

MintySpud · 14/02/2020 21:08

Hubs is sitting on the couch cuddling a football with his green Supergrip gloves. But he's literally a keeper.❤

mamansnet · 14/02/2020 21:23

Having the best valentines. Kebab and chips on the sofa with a DVD that made us both howl laughing. He's the best Grin

richele4 · 14/02/2020 21:31

@SunStruck
This one! I'm absolutely in love. DH went above and beyond which is strange because we don't usually celebrate Valentine's but I've just found out I'm pregnant with our fourth so we are over the moon😊

I've not actually seen my DP today as were on opposite shifts, but there was a present waiting for me when I got up this morning. It was a beautiful decorative piece for the house, I'm made up as he has selected something that is exactly what I love, even though he would never have picked it for himself. I feel like he's put a lot of thought into it.

inchoccyheaven · 14/02/2020 21:41

My dw got me enough jars of sweets to spell out our surname and my favourite chocs that I haven't had for such a long time. I love love love sweets lol.
I bought her world earrings as she is my world, otter socks, chocs, modelling clay make your own giraffe ( our fav animal) and marshmallow boobs.
Love spoiling each other.

collywobblescar · 14/02/2020 21:50

I got a £2 plastic rose but we don't have much money and I wasn't expecting anything so I'm really chuffed

painintheholeSIL · 14/02/2020 21:53

Dh got me a card and a box of chocolates. He sent me flowers at work. But not a bunch of red roses, I don't actually like red roses, he went online and picked a bouquet of brightly coloured flowers, oranges, purples, yellows, all my favourites that he knew I'd love. We're ttc and he knows I'm struggling with it. He made my day today.

Nanalisa60 · 14/02/2020 21:58

Bacon roll cup of tea in bed plus card this morning
Come home from work gin and tonic handed to me as I came through the door, and he was cooking me home made beef stroganoff for my tea.

ElloBrian · 14/02/2020 21:58

Don’t be a bitch, @MyuMe

Bacardi101 · 14/02/2020 22:50

@crunchymum

Yeah not at the date this was before hand managed to break my leg 😬 must say the best time I have spent in hospital 😂

StCharlotte · 14/02/2020 23:03

DH of 21 years sent me flowers at work which he hasn't done for a while. They were in reception for a while as I was seeing a client when they arrived so they got max showing-off value Grin

TokyoSushi · 14/02/2020 23:10

Lovely flowers and a chocolate orange here, my absolute favourite so I'm delighted!

DD(6) is very crafty and has been churning out Valentines Day cards all week so I have about 7 cards from her too!

RedPandaFluff · 14/02/2020 23:13

We have a nine-week-old DD so even though DH made my favourite meal, we had to eat it in shifts! I think my favourite Valentines Day moment was dancing with my daughter in my arms to a song I really love, and DH videoed it without my being aware. He sent it to me and for once I can see past my unkempt hair and un-made-up face to the beautiful moment that it was . . . Smile

MrsElf · 14/02/2020 23:18

I got told that “there are no red roses about this year, the Tesco lady said so”. I hinted about and got a mini rose, which I think is lots better. Then he found red roses. I am trying to gently get across that the rose plant is by far my favourite, but he is SO pleased with himself, and convinced that every woman must be thrilled by the romantic cliche gesture, and I am just being nice...

MysweetAudrina · 14/02/2020 23:30

Lovely flowers and chocs and I cooked us a nice dinner while the kids were at a junior disco. All good.

Saladd0dger · 14/02/2020 23:36

2 bunches of flowers, chocolates and a key ring. Being taken out Saturday night to. I get flowers most weeks. He’s so lovely ❤️

SageYourResoluteOracle · 14/02/2020 23:37

I'm going through a divorce and STBExH and I are still living under the same roof... it's been almost 4 months since I told him I was done...

I've been dating including having a fling that ended a month ago. I've also been messaging with someone for a couple of weeks who I've yet to meet as he's abroad right now. We've spoken on the phone once. Anyway- he's checked in with me daily even though he's in a completely different time zone and I'm genuinely excited about meeting him even though there mightn't be that vital 'spark'. Today I received the loveliest message replete with rose and flowers emojis and a sweet, perfectly pitched sentiment without being over the top. I'm chuffed as it's good to have an interest, it's lovely he remembered to wish me happy Valentine's Day especially as we're in no way 'an item' and above all, I was kind of dreading today as it's my first single Valentine's Day in 16 years and I feel that little bit better.

But thanks for this thread as it feels as if there's some hope for a silly romantic like me in finding true, lasting love 💕
