Do You drop litter?

Judging by the vast amount of litter everywhere, there must be a fair few people in every walk of life who drop litter.
So, if you do, could you tell me why as I am genuinely puzzled as to why anybody would do this?
prompted by seeing a massive pile of empty bottles/ wrappers at a traffic lights where motorists have obviously lobbed stuff out the window

MAMIL cyclists chucking their empty energy drink sippy bottles and gel wrappers onto the lane or over the hedge into fields. This makes me so cross

No I regularly come home with a bag of snack wrappers and things to put in the bin when I get home, and bagged nappies too though I try to decant them into an appropriate receptacle ASAP

If I don't have a bag to put them in, then I end up with a pocketful of snotty baby wipes, tangerine peel, bus tickets and crisp packets instead, which annoys me so I try to bring a bag.

Before I had kids I used to always carry empties miles, I remember one boyfriend getting really annoyed with me for carrying an empty pop can for miles because I hadn't found a bin yet, but I couldn't throw it in any conscience. I used to put out my cigarettes when I smoked and put them back in the packet, and when I was a gum chewer I used to fold it in a receipt and tuck it in my purse or bag to put in the bin later. I'm not sure if I believe in hell, but if there is one it's full of litter throwers and despite my many sins I won't be going there for littering, at least.

Along our road people tend to pick up after their dogs. Unfortunately some of them then think it's acceptable to toss the bags into our garden Angry. I think some people think it's council land as it's a tiny bit of protected woodland, but even so!

We've also experienced the neighbour's gardeners eating lunch in their van next to our wood and then tossing all the packets and cans into same.

I personally think we are not too bad with litter as a country

You have got to be joking, open your eyes.

Hereinthemidlands · 14/02/2020 19:25

I agree, the litter is awful in this country. Ok obviously not as bad as somewhere India for instance but even still. Esp now it's winter and all the verges have died back it makes me want to weep seeing mile after mile of rubbish everywhere. I hate humans sometimes.

Ncdotcom I think dumping vomit covered wipes is disgusting, I understand you not leaving them in your car all day but are you seriously saying you couldn't have tolerated them until you drove past the next bin or couldn't have fashioned a receptical to keep them in until you could dispose of them? I don't believe for one minute that you would leave the house with a toddler and have absolutely nothing that you could have stowed them in for 10 mins?

Well the probably have dutiful wife who look after the children and do all the housework while they are out playing on their bikes with their friends. I expect they are used to someone else picking up after them.

Last night, in my dream, I was angry about something and chucked whatever I was carrying away. Even in my dream I felt guilty for littering and went back to pick it up.

megletthesecond · 15/02/2020 09:21

No. I have a litter picker and do my local area.
I also tell people off who do drop litter and cigarettes and if they don't pick it up then I do. I might look like a grumpy middle aged woman but at least I don't look like a twat.

Weffiepops · 15/02/2020 10:35

No! Who would? I think sometimes people can drop by accident but anyone who drops litter on purpose is a c**t
