What are you doing over half term as a family?

Huddling together to keep warm more than likely!

Michaelbaubles · 11/02/2020 18:18

We’re going to a cottage in Northumberland. It’s going to be freezing, yes, but as the DC are with exH for the majority of the holidays, this is one of the few chances I have to take them away somewhere. It’s not exactly Disneyland but hoping to curl up in front of a warm fire with cards and board games and have some nice family time together.

Pipandmum · 11/02/2020 18:20

Unfortunately my children's half terms don't match up (one on it now, the other has it next week). I'm off to London for the day with my youngest to look at a school for sixth form as they're still open. As a treat we'll have lunch at our favourite sushi place on the way. That's about it really in terms of any (half) family plans this week.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 11/02/2020 18:30

Yes, it’s supposed to be really cold isn’t it?

OP posts:
MistyIsland · 11/02/2020 18:36

It’s going to be cold and wet here, I think we may have one day of sun but it’s going to be freezing.

So I’ve booked a couple of free indoor activities (love hobbycraft Grin)

Other than that it will be board games and quick dog walks.

Lots of fires and keeping dry and warm.

I wouldn’t mind decorating the kids bedrooms if I get enough time.

ghostmous3 · 11/02/2020 18:38

Nothing. Im working. Kids are going to holiday club

Greenbutterlfy566 · 11/02/2020 18:43

We might do the cinema and trampoline park

OP posts:
SallyWD · 11/02/2020 18:47

Going to stay with my parents

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/02/2020 18:51

I am taking my DC's to Iceland for 4 nights

IggyAce · 11/02/2020 18:56

It’s DSs birthday during half term so I’ve arrange to take him and some friends to a trampoline park.
We are meeting up with friends for a game of indoor crazy golf.
If the weather isn’t too bad we will go to a local NT property for a good walk.

Bunnylady54 · 11/02/2020 19:00

DH working but I have the whole week off. Probably go swimming, maybe cinema, see what attractions are open ( we’re in Cornwall). DD loves crafts etc so we might start a project.

Curlyshabtree · 11/02/2020 19:00

I’m only off on the Monday. Dts are doing a free music/theatre event for the last 3 days of the week. That’s it!

CMOTDibbler · 11/02/2020 19:02

We're going glamping in a lovely yurt with bed and wood burning stove. We did it last Easter, but it wasn't really cold enough to make full use of the stove, so we are looking forward to snuggling in bed with books while its wet and windy outside

Greenbutterlfy566 · 11/02/2020 19:20

Five- where are you going in Iceland?

OP posts:
Fenlandmountainrescue · 11/02/2020 19:43

I’m going to stay at home, pop to the park, nice things like that. Will get out the woodworking bench so lo can hammer/saw to her hearts content. I got one of her creations for my birthday.

MeMeMeYou · 11/02/2020 19:49

I’m trying to figure out what to do with DS (6) in half term As he just broke his arm 🤦🏻. No playground, scooter, swimming, climbing, soft play or trampoline - the usual things. Trying to reduce his screen time so trying to avoid cinema. Watching this thread for ideas!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/02/2020 19:52

Based in Reykjavik and then doing a Northern Lights trip, the golden circle and Blue Lagoon, and anything else we can ft in. My DH died last year and this was where I wanted to take him, just have to take the DC's instead, its my 50th while I am out there as well.

blue25 · 11/02/2020 19:54

A few days in Somerset. Beach walks, nice food, cosy fire & films.

Shutityoujamtart · 11/02/2020 19:54

We are going to centre Parcs.

EmrysAtticus · 11/02/2020 19:56

Have a few playdates booked. Otherwise just relaxing. Will probably go swimming and to the cinema. No major plans. Save those for the warmer months :)

Littlebearstrousers · 11/02/2020 19:56

I'm working the full week Sad DD will ģo to her dad's for half the week and my mum will have her the other days

troppibambini · 11/02/2020 20:02

We're on day two of half term.
Monday chilled then dd2 had a friend over for sleep over
Tuesday Blackpool zoo (in gales, hail and sleet)
Wednesday they're going to grandmas in the pm
Thursday three are going to play date one staying at home
Friday day out with grandad and uncle- playcentre, Trafford centre and cinema to see Doolittle

ScouseQueen · 11/02/2020 20:03

I can't get time off work and neither can DH, so it's holiday club for us and I'll aim for some things like cinema at the end of the working day. Feb is the least good value of all the half terms though in my book so it's the one where using childcare seems less of a waste. Weather will be crap anyway.

BabbleBee · 11/02/2020 20:05

Going to see family for a couple of days then... NOTHING! Alarm clocks off, sleeping as much as we need, eating when we want. The absolute opposite of the endless routine of term time.

reluctantbrit · 11/02/2020 20:36

When DD was in primary school she always went to a holiday club unless I had a day or so leftover holiday from the previous year.

Most years it is cold, rainy and awful, she had more fun than if I would have to take time of and entertain her.

Now in secondary she will use the Monday to relax, meaning she will be a onesie all day and watching movies. The rest of the week will be cleaning up her room, sorting out clothes, doing some Spanish as the teachers do recommend practice for languages and may see a friend.
