Settee now on sale :(

I bought a settee from ScS on a 4 years free credit basis last year, I've just seen that the same settee is now on sale, for less than half price, I don't suppose there's any way of getting them to rearrange my credit payments to reflect the discount is there 🙈🙈 I've got a really good feeling that there is no way they'd do this, but this is the first settee I've bought from an actual sofa store, so have no idea if it's possible. I'm gutted too as it's a massive saving and I'm going on holiday this year. X.

I wasn't rushing to have it delivered by Christmas, I'll just put that out there, having it by Christmas wasn't why I even wanted it. I just desperatly needed a new settee, after having my argos £200 settee for over 10 years, it was basically a shell, the material wasn't great to begin with, but you start cheap and trade up. I'd looked around for quite a while for something that was the right size for my living room, made from sturdier material and would look perfect for my decor, and I found it, I really love it. This is the first time I've EVER bought anything on credit, I've always saved up for larger priced items, and although I could have bought it outright, I was on maternity (not that I have to explain myself) and didn't want to pay so much all in one go. And if you don't ask you don't get is what I've been told 🤷🏻‍♀️ you never know what you could be missing out on if you don't ever ask. I once was able to return 3 large house items items to argos 3 weeks after I'd bought them as they were in the sale, I emailed and asked if there was a way to have the difference and they did 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ xx I appreciate the people who have been able to message me back politely with actual information which I was really looking for. X.

Not sure I'd do it after a couple of months but definitely a week or so.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/02/2020 10:37

Lol. The only people who can message you back with the actual information are SCS! Not mumsnet!

What do all these PMers know that SCS don’t?

Nicknacky · 10/02/2020 10:39

What is in this for SCS?

LonginesPrime · 10/02/2020 10:42

I'll just put that out there, having it by Christmas wasn't why I even wanted it.

Well I would tell them that then...

AlexaAmbidextra · 10/02/2020 10:43

My mums friend cancelled a sofa on arrival and got her money back. Not due to wanting it cheaper just realised she couldn't afford it. They refunded her.

Well that’s completely irrelevant to OP’s situation isn’t it? She’s been sitting on the sofa in question since last year. Hardly the same as cancelling a brand new sofa.

stormchiaraiscoming · 10/02/2020 10:45

Lol.

userxx · 10/02/2020 10:54

Always wait for the sales, there are many throughout the year.

Gazelda · 10/02/2020 10:56

If the price had gone up since November, would you be miffed if SCS contacted you to increase your payments?

Lipperfromchipper · 10/02/2020 10:58

OP....you’re funny!! I love a good Monday morning joke!! 🤣🤣

Tothemoonandbackx · 10/02/2020 11:56

Omg, I didn't realise so many people would get so het up about this 😳🙈 x it was just a genuine question, really regarding whether anyone on mumsnet may see it and say what their experience was if they'd been able to do it or not, as some of you you can read I'm sure, you did see the part where I said that "I've got a really good feeling they wont do this" what have some of you had for breakfast 😂 xx

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2020 12:01

I don't see anyone getting 'het up'. Have you rung them yet?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 10/02/2020 12:08

They wouldn't change the price of yiur finance if you bought it yesterday, never mind a few months ago.

I bought a table recently, 2 days later they took a third off the price.

Nicknacky · 10/02/2020 12:10

Why do posters always accuse people how reply to their posts as being “het up”? It’s no skin off our nose.

Again, what is in it for SCS to do this? Nothing, that’s what.

whitesoxx · 10/02/2020 12:14

😂😂

Tothemoonandbackx · 10/02/2020 13:11

@iminaglasscaseofemotion, I think for two days later you should have at least asked, two thirds is quite alot, you never know, they may have let you have the difference or even store credit, was yours on finance too???
@Nicknacky I'm assuming you meant, why do posters always accuse people of how they reply to their post, as being het up.
There are nice ways to reply to someones question, I wasn't asking for other peoples hypothetical situations, I wasn't asking for people to decide if a was being a cheeky f**ker or not. Some people answered my question with their own experiences, some people answered me with constructive information, and that's what I was looking for. Not sure why you replied though as it's no skin off of your nose anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ x

OP posts:
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 10/02/2020 13:37

Why would they do that? They would have to start doing that for everyone 😂 craziness.

Lipperfromchipper · 10/02/2020 13:42

Out of interest OP...why did you not ask “Is this due to go on sale after Christmas???” I know I would have!!

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/02/2020 14:21

What is the point of the thread though OP? You've said you've called and tried this before with Argos so presumably are going to call and ask about the sofa regardless?

Its definitely no skin off my nose, and am not 'het up' - who really cares about someone elses sofa Grin. More fool you though for paying full price for a sofa tfrom somewhere like that- they're in 'sale' most of the year and it would have been fairly likely it would have been reduced in January. I'd have waited. It is a bit shit for you though OP, I'd be upset (but think it was my own fault/typical)

Let us know if they give you the money back OP, genuinely interested as I just can't imagine it and would love to know if it's a thing.

lillypopdaisyduke · 10/02/2020 14:24

try and forget about it, these things happen, your income should increase and your payments will seem less of a burden

smashstore · 10/02/2020 14:27

Genuninly thought this was a joke when I read the OP. Reading further in, it seems you are serious Shock

FAQs · 10/02/2020 14:30

I don’t think you can, the Sofa company sells the debt to the loan company, the sofa company have already been paid.

TheBeesKnee · 10/02/2020 14:32

Yeah I know what you mean as I bought a leather jacket only to see it on sale a month later for 30% off! I was seething. However, I love the jacket and I loved it enough to pay full price rather than waiting for a sale and risking not getting it.

If you loved that sofa enough to buy it on credit (is there a reason you didn't just pay for it?) then my only advice is to take a deep breath, suck it up, and enjoy the sofa for at least the next 4 years. You've learnt a lesson, if nothing else.

amusedbush · 10/02/2020 14:55
