What was your most recent addition to your 'rotation' of meals that you cook?

Following on from another thread about how many different meals you tend to cook (e.g. if there's about 50 dishes in your 'rotation' that you'll make for tea) - I realised how rarely I add anything to mine. I try new things every so often but rarely do they make the cut of being not too faffy and more than the sum of their parts!

If you've come across a winning recipe recently that you're going to add to your regulars, what was it?
Here are my most recent:

Smoked haddock salad (I do a soft-boiled egg instead of poached) www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/salad-smoked-haddock-chorizo-and-poached-egg

Cod with lentils and chorizo (honestly I don't eat fish + chorizo with every meal):

Salmon in puff pastry parcels. Super quick and easy if you use ready rolled pastry sheets Grin. Boiled potatoes and some green beans on the side.

Sausage and sweet potato tray bake from the roasting tin recipe book. I have to do 2 trays for all 4 of us and it takes much longer than the recipe suggests, but we all like it.

FruityWidow · 10/02/2020 20:48

Peanut tofu curry.

Grasspigeons · 10/02/2020 20:53

Meatloaf. Mince, stuffing mix, stock cube, bit of water and an egg. I have a really fussy eater who ate it and said it was lovely. Then two unfussy eaters who asked for it again the next day

Easy fish pie with a crisp topping - the usual faffy poaching fish in milk and making a white sauce, is replaced by 800g of tinned tuna and salmon, and a can of condensed mushroom sauce. All you have to do is boil and mash potatoes, and that could be replaced with ready-made/instant if needed. I'll try to do a linky thing.

Made this with leftover turkey after Christmas and have done it with leftover roast chicken since. Very tasty.

Also got the roasting tin book for Christmas. So far we have tried one with gnocchi and mozzarella and the sausage and sweet potato one, both good. Also the over shakshouka and the spiced cauliflower steaks from the green roasting tin. Very easy and good results.

Jamie Oliver sweet leek carbonara, very easy and not many ingredients needed

This Mary Berry recipe:

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chicken_pasta_bake_25701

It was fairly straightforward as long as you can make a roux, was a hit with everyone, and made enough for 2 meals, so has definitely earned a place on The List.

One pot Chicken curry from the last Ocado free magazine. It’s basically curry powder, tin of tomatoes, tin of coconut milk, garlic, onion, chicken and rice all in one pan. It’s lovely. Skipped the spring onion garnish & fresh coriander as I forgot to buy. Still nice though. Made it 3 times now 😁
I only have about 4/5 recipes in rotation though. To others saying 20/50 Shock

olivehater · 10/02/2020 22:40

Baked potatoes done low in the oven for three hours. Simple but just taste amazing. Usually with a simple fillet of fish and some peas.

WobbleHead · 10/02/2020 22:44

This squash and lentil dhal was delish - I didn’t bother faffing with the egg bit. Recommend the coriander yoghurt accompaniment though www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/delicious-squash-daal/

WobbleHead · 10/02/2020 22:50

Ooh also this Jamie Oliver fake paella recipe www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/chicken-paella/

That’s an insane amount of chorizo recommended in the ingredients so I normally halve the amount, and just use a pack of normal chicken legs as I’ve never seen ‘drumettes’ (unless my Sainsbos is the only one not stocking micro poultry?!)

BedStuy · 10/02/2020 23:00

Some of these sound great! Also I'm impressed how many veggie ones there are. Something I'm trying to cook more of.

Thai Red chicken curry. Chicken Satay. Stir fry with anything chucked in. Homemade curry with chicken and lentils. Lamb Badami Ghost ( takes time but so good). Chicken breast stuffed with cheese and spinach wrapped in Parma ham ( or bacon). Coulibiac ( nice for a summer supper). Irish broth made with a ham end. These are a few of my staples.
