The perfect Sunday?

Kind of another 'what are you up to today?' thread Smile

Currently sat at the kitchen table with DP. I have a lovely glass of wine and a giant bag of crisps on the go. Johnnie Walker is on the radio. DD5 is tootling around chattering non stop and the DDogs are snoozing on the sofa.

Boring for some but to me this is bliss. What is everyone else's idea of a perfect Sunday?

Haha that sounds pretty good to me. Well, better than my Sunday where I went to do a shopping while avoiding being hit by flying bins, trees and trolley's! I don't like Sundays anymore. My partner starts his nightshif week on a Sunday night so he's in bed most of the day and I sort out the shopping and dinners for the week. If I had a perfect Sunday though it would involve pyjamas, wine and snacks !

Commonwasher · 09/02/2020 16:22

Sounds ace OP. I’ve been at a gymnastics party for six year olds..... Confused

Cheesewine · 09/02/2020 16:26

@commonwasher..... You win 😂😂

1happyhippie · 09/02/2020 16:26

My ideal Sunday is a lie in, walk the dog, a lovely breakfast and then shower and potter about. Watch something on Netflix and order a takeaway.
This Sunday has been different! Plans cancelled because of the weather, spent a good part of the day getting blown about soaked on a walk with the dog, watching three panels and the shed roof get taken out in the wind and praying 🙏 the worst is over!

Bittercup · 09/02/2020 16:29

@Cheesewine your perfect Sunday sounds great. You're a bit brave going out today, I did all the shopping yesterday which is nothing short of a miracle for a faffer like me.

@Commonwasher I feel your pain... I was at a party last week, the kind where parents have to join in!

V similar to you op...radio 2 on, dogs snoring, kids chilling, partner just got in from work, I'm slowly cooking a roast in the kitchen whilst mumsnetting and drinking wine. My best kind of Sunday.

golddustwomen · 09/02/2020 16:32

Dd5, ds2 and I are chilling on the sofa with some blankets watching the greatest showman. DH is cooking a gammon dinner. The smell of the stuffing is making my mouth water!
I love Sundays!

Brexshits · 09/02/2020 16:32

That sounds nice OP but I would have had to go out for a decent run or walk first to enjoy it (maybe you have if you have dogs!)

Anything involving the getting out in the countryside followed by food and wine in nice surroundings with people I like is a pretty perfect day to me.

poorbuthappy · 09/02/2020 16:32

Check on the wine, rugby on rather than radio Hmm. All ironing done. Kids playing in front room. Dinner on.

dementedma · 09/02/2020 16:32

Mine is good because dh is at work and not home until tomorrow. Perfect would be if the dcs werent here either! Picked ds up from a party/ all nighter and dragged him with me to the shops for new trousers, shirts and boots. Thank God for the Matalan sale! Now prepping food, lunch for work tomorrow, had a nice long bubble bath . All good.

iklboo · 09/02/2020 16:34

Perfect Sunday:

Long lie in
Breakfast or pastries and coffee in bed
TV in bed
Chilling & MNing or on tablet
Dinner
Evening TV with wine or gin

MocholateMousse · 09/02/2020 16:35

I’ve had a near-perfect Sunday.

Had a lie-in (DCs are teens now, so we can do that again!), DH made me a cooked breakfast and then we snuggled up on the sofa and watched Netflix all afternoon.

Just had a lovely bath and now going to my mums for Sunday dinner (no cooking! Yes!).

I’ve had a couple of hideously stressful weeks at work, so really needed today.

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/02/2020 16:37

I'm feeling a bit stir crazy because of the weather, I did the main shopping yesterday but have just been to Aldi just to get out of the house for half an hour.

My ideal Sunday would be get up about 8 for coffee and croissants after lying in bed for a bit with a cat on my chest, out for a walk, couple of hours at the allotment on my own, lunch, potter about a bit, take DS to football, have a good natter with him in the car and the other parents at the ground, home and all go to the pub for our evening meal. Then home for a cuppa and watch a bit of telly all together.

MotherPupper · 09/02/2020 16:38

Ours has been good today. Tidied up a bit (always feel better when the house is tidy), bit of batch cooking for the week, lots of Disney films and snacks! I'm not cooking a roast, which is a bit of a shame, but I've got a meringue in the oven instead!

Andersonx3 · 09/02/2020 16:43

Dropped DD off at the in-laws then went off roading in the storm! Now tucked up on the sofa ❤️

Commonwasher · 09/02/2020 16:54

@Bittercup did you have to wear a leotard?

MinesaPinot · 09/02/2020 17:14

We've been tucked up on the sofa all day. I'm suffering from a rotten cold and cough which is making me feel crap. Did went off and sorted out his wardrobe and came down to find me watching Shakespeare in Love on Netflix. Just about to put a couple of bits of chicken in for dinner. I haven't fancied eating properly since Friday but DH thinks I need a bit of nourishment.

MinesaPinot · 09/02/2020 17:15

Did? I meant DH!

Bittercup · 09/02/2020 17:45

@Commonwasher oh my goodness no. My pain doesn't even come close in that caseGrin

Oooh I do miss a big glass of red on a Sunday. Currently 26 weeks pregnant and so today was spent putting some finishing touches to the nursery. I put some cute prints and wall stickers up and started sorting baby clothes into ages. Going to get started on tea soon.

ageingdisgracefully · 09/02/2020 17:52

Lie in today, reading an unputdownable book.
Went to IKEA. Thought it would be nice and quiet die to the weather, but I was wrong. It was heaving. Sad. Spotted a sofa, though.

Back home, had lunch (curry-homemade) and read more book.

Had a bath and covered myself in Sanctuary Spa stuff.

Egg mayo sarnie for tea then more book, followed by Line of Duty on a loop and a glass of whisky or two.

Tana433 · 09/02/2020 18:13

Bacon baguette, large mug of tea and Hollyoaks omnibus on the tv. Followed by a long hot soak in the bath with a good book.

longcoffee · 09/02/2020 18:16

I'm writing an article on very sector specific insurance. It's not my sector.

I'm not having a good day Hmm

lazylinguist · 09/02/2020 18:27

My ideal Sunday would involve a long family dog walk somewhere lovely, home via Sunday lunch at a pub, some board games at home with the dc, afternoon tea, then knitting in front of a family favourite film. #rocknrolllifestyle Grin

Today has involved housework, lesson planning and staying indoors to avoid storm Ciara. Still, I did make lovely cinnamon buns and am sitting with a glass of white wine waiting to eat dh's lasagne.

Crunchymum · 09/02/2020 18:30

It's been manic (Sunday's always are as we get ready for the week ahead) but I've done all I need to do. DP just finishing off homework with DC2.

Glass of wine has been poured, kids going to watch Moana, Thai take away is on route. This part of the day I rather enjoy!!
