They were on our wedding list so 20 years old.

DramaAlpaca · 06/02/2020 23:48

Our dinner plates were wedding presents, so thirty years old this year. Most of them are a bit chipped but I'm not bothered.

purplecorkheart · 06/02/2020 23:48

The ones I use at the moment where given to my parents as a wedding present 40 years ago.

dustibooks · 06/02/2020 23:52

Around 25 years old, bought from Woolworths. There's been a few casualties over the years and its diminished a bit, so we really need a new set, but I've been looking for ages and can't find anything I like anywhere near as much.

AlunWynsKnee · 06/02/2020 23:54

Mine are from my first wedding 26 years ago.

Ikeasucks · 06/02/2020 23:54

Is that daily use? Impressive replies. And I thought mine were lasting up pretty well.

My 'everyday' ones are only 16 years old, my wedding dinner service ones considerably more

AlunWynsKnee · 06/02/2020 23:58

Yes daily use.

Titsywoo · 07/02/2020 00:02

I think about 8 years old. Although we have two that i kept when my parents were clearing their old house out - they were from their wedding china so must be 46 years old!

NetballHoop · 07/02/2020 00:03

About 25 years old.
We do have a "High tea" set inherited from my GM which is at least 90 years old and is... um... not entirely to our taste so is lovingly dumped/preserved for future generations in our loft.

FruityWidow · 07/02/2020 00:12

A few are about 18 years old from a house share and a few others are from about 10 years ago that i 'inherited' from a pub I worked in. They have had serious heavy use and look brand new.

SageRosemary · 07/02/2020 00:18

My parents gave me my everyday set in 1990 when I moved into my first home - so 30 years. I have one more dinner plate than I started with, all the mugs and bowls but the side plates didn't fare so well, just 6 left from 12 (idiot housemates from the early days)

RoseMartha · 07/02/2020 00:27

Some are about twenty years old and some are about 16 years old. Used daily.

penguin246 · 07/02/2020 00:28

How is this possible? I'm getting drastically low after 5 years. Butter fingers.

EL8888 · 07/02/2020 00:29

Couple of weeks. They are from Sainsbury. Last set were from Argos and lasted about 3 years. They were meant to be a stop gap but even so were crap quality and got crazed / poor glaze so had to go

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 07/02/2020 00:35

They were bought in Wilko when I was a second or third year student, and are still going strong (except a bowl which bit the dust) 7/8 years later

happypotamus · 07/02/2020 06:48

Most of mine were given to me when I started university nearly 20 years ago. We have others in our cupboard and I have no idea where they came from.

HeronLanyon · 07/02/2020 06:56

I’m using 15 - 30 year old plates which aren’t showing signs of wear.

Have ‘inherited’ a lot of kitchen stuff on death of my mum recently. Happily using small plates from 1950ish. A great ice crusher from 1920ish (grandparents I assume) best bread knife ever from 1960s and I think never sharpened (?!). Etc.

vampirethriller · 07/02/2020 06:56

1960s pyrex, I use them every day.

TroysMammy · 07/02/2020 06:58

Nearly 30 years old and only one tea plate broken.

EggysMom · 07/02/2020 06:59

I collected Portmeirion 25-30 years ago. Ten years ago, when our 'daily' plates got old tired broken I started to wonder what I was saving my 'special' plates for ... So we've been using the Portmeirion for ten years now!

confusedandemployed · 07/02/2020 07:00

I've got 1960s Pyrex too. Inherited them from my grandfather. I love them, they are a lovely retro pattern and are much smaller than modern plates!

RancidOldHag · 07/02/2020 07:04

Daily use since the late 1980s

There have been a few broken over the years. And I think the next breakage might mean I need to replace - I have been looking on discontinued' sites, but as it wasn't posh it never features

OhTheRoses · 07/02/2020 07:05

I bought Denby Memories in 1982 with my first flat. It was indestructible but wore and dated. Put it away in about 2006 and DC have used it for uni. I still have the teacups and saucers for when my mother comes. Oh, and the butter dish.

The posh stuff is Wedgewood 1991 and I only use it when we use the dining room which is hardly ever.

Daily use now is Wedgewood White. Very simple but not indestructible and am forever replacing a bit every Jan and June in the sales. Stone floor in kitchen hasn't helped!
