Everyday is a mix from my first flat and DHs first house 15 & 20 years old, both just Argos and tbh quite chipped and with bits missing now.

Posh dinner set is 95 years old, which we bought at auction with wedding money. The dinner plates are really small, but it's lovely 20s design. Too thin to use for everyday with kids and can't go in the dishwasher so high days and holidays for that.

Oldraver · 07/02/2020 08:01

25 years old, Valencia set from BHS

I got rid of the 'Christmas and special occasions set a few years ago as it wa taking up space, and use this one all year round

I bought some extras when it was discontinued and have replaced some pieces from EBay. I've given up on salt and pepper pots as they have been broken three times

Oldraver · 07/02/2020 08:02

I also have some mugs from 25/30 years ago that seem bombproof, no chips at all. Yet recent ones don't last

lastqueenofscotland · 07/02/2020 08:08

One set that’s about 10 another that’s about 7.

gerispringer · 07/02/2020 08:12

I have Midwinter Sienna from the 1970s. Used all the time. Buy replacements from eBay.

NotMeNoNo · 07/02/2020 08:14

25 years, they are the Denby dark green so still replaceable. By a massive stroke of luck we chose well.

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 08:19

Dinger plates is the best phrase ever. Mine have nearly all suffered a ding or two.

Luckily they are Johnson Bros Willow Blue, and lots of other manufacturers make that pattern too. Bought first in 1988 but many replaced over the years.

I have a fancier pattern, Royal Doulton Sherbrooke, that I rarely use and hand wash when I do, so it has survived undinged and with no breakages since 1988.

mathanxiety · 07/02/2020 08:21

Daily use for the Willow Blue.

adaline · 07/02/2020 08:23

About six months.

We used odd hand me downs when we moved here but bought a full new set last summer to match the kitchen Blush

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/02/2020 08:43

Between 9.5 and four years old. We've moved six times since getting married, 5 times internationally, and with having two small children (mixed with two stone kitchen floors).. We have had quite a few breakages so have topped up a few times- none of it matches. The pish set is also 9.5years old.

MulticolourMophead · 07/02/2020 08:50

Mine are only 3vyears old, but that's because I bought them when I left ex, leaving him with the old stuff with dings in.

Celticdawn5 · 07/02/2020 08:56

Denby : used every day for 30 years. I don’t own any other sets so nothing kept aside for ‘best’
The dinner plates are looking worn though and I have been mulling over buying a new set but the prices now make me wince

schnubbins · 07/02/2020 09:00

I have only just replaced my Denby plates after 30 years .I still have the cups and saucers though.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 07/02/2020 09:08

Around 2 years

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 07/02/2020 09:12

Our every day set is 13 years old (bought when we moved in together). Our formal set was a wedding gift 8 years ago.

LizziesTwin · 07/02/2020 09:13

14 for everyday set & 25 1/2 for dinner service. Plus we have some prettyItalian painted plates which are for summer entertaining (hardly used now) & about 27 years old.

steppemum · 07/02/2020 09:16

we have 2 lots, plain white Ikea ones, they are daily use, and they are looking battered, about 8-9 years old.
And a set of Denby ones which we use when havign a nice meal/visitors/sunday roast or just when the others are in the dishwasher. I bought them 30 years ago. They still look amazing, and I've only ever broken one, as they bounce on the floor.

BikeRunSki · 07/02/2020 09:18

They were wedding presents, so 20 at the end of April.

Motacilla · 07/02/2020 09:20

Nearly 25 years but we got two sets of 12 places the same, as things break from the first set we replace from the second set, if that makes sense.

Ragwort · 07/02/2020 09:29

By coincidence my DH and I had the same (Habitat Grin) dinner service before we met, we've been married 32 years and still using it.

I do have other plates that I use, but these are the 'daily' ones !

HighlandYak · 07/02/2020 09:30

Between 2 and 5 years old.

Gogolego · 07/02/2020 09:48

Posh ones - only used at Christmas and when we have a party. 42 years old

Everyday- good quality Denby- 25 years old. Pattern is still in production so have replaced some over the years but considering how much they're used. No biggie

greenlobster · 07/02/2020 10:01

About 35 years old. They're a set of royal doulton that my parents bought when I was a kid.

I've thought about replacing them for years, but have never managed to find any other plates that are such a pleasing shape.

BarbaraofSeville · 07/02/2020 10:02

We have three part sets. We are childfree, but both perfectly capable of dropping the odd bit of crockery.

Some that PILs bought us as a housewarming present for our first house, so now around 25 years old, standard high street set from somewhere like Argos or a supermarket, the odd breakage, but mostly still in existence.

Topped up by some cheapy Ikea plates, not many of those left as they broke and chipped fairly easily, but the ones that are left are probably around 15 years old.

And then 2/3 years ago, I bought my first grown up Denby plates in a Black Friday half price offer, but still bloody expensive. I'm in two minds about whether they were worth the extra cost as they take up too much room in the dishwasher due to the shape and they look a bit tatty scratchy TBH. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't bothered. However, they're otherwise very sturdy and as we're in our late 40s, they'll probably outlast us.

All get used routinely as we just keep using them up until the dishwasher is full.

isseywith4vampirecats · 07/02/2020 10:11

every day set dark green Denby so about 15 years old, posh set that lives in the cupboard and not used 1930s Myott
