What post-gcse holidays did your 16 year olds take?

Just having a conversation with my year 10 15 year old ds about possibilities (as he’s heard friends in year 11 are apparently going to Europe on a train )
I always thought it would mainly be post A level holidays kids would take tbh, mainly due to logistics and rules and regulations etc, so would be interested to know what your kids have done previously!

I went to Ibiza with my best friend.

I don’t think I’d be comfortable with my DS doing that, though 😬

I went to Newquay with about 30 other 16 year olds from my year. Can't remember much about it but I'm sure it was good fun! I don't think we had any "adults" there.
It's a bit of a right if passage tbh.

God this thread really makes me want to be 16 again and heading to my first festival, the world at your feet!!! nostalgic wistful eyes

Loving the NCS course. A friend's son did it a couple of years ago but I totally forgot until reading this thread. Now signed my eldest up! Will inform him later that were sending him away 🤣

NCS varies hugely between areas ... DD hated it, it was super strict and they really didn’t do a lot. But I’ve heard from others who had an amazing experience, caving, abseiling etc with really chilled young leaders.

Mine is going on a family holiday, back home to NZ.
