Hey lovely ladies. I'm currently 6 wks pregnant through FET. I had my hcg bloods Monday and they are only 374 so way to low. On top of that I keep getting pain. Since yesterday I have been having little gushes 😷 of brown fluid come out now and then ( sorry for being gross) .
The EPU won't see me yet. I'm unsure what to do.
If you have had an ectopic what were your symptoms and how did you get help please xx

Can you get a GP appointment? They can refer you to the EPU to be seen. I've had an ectopic in the past but I had no symptoms until it ruptured, so I can't help you with symptoms but any pregnancies now I get scanned at 6 weeks to check that it's not another.
The EPU should be able to see you and if there's any chance of it being any ectopic I'd get an emergency GP appointment and fight to get seen. If you're 6 weeks then it's not too early for ectopic to be ruled out. Good luck Xx

BlueLadybird · 05/02/2020 08:41

Are your clinic due to do a scan? They usually do around 6 weeks. Could you speak to them?

Good luck.

I had an ectopic. Firstly a feeling of just generally not feeling right. Followed by several bouts of a short 5 minute episode of doubled over pain days apart. Finally a massive agonising pain that came and went all night and a very dark almost black show of blood when I staggered to the toilet.
Get it checked out. I was unlucky in that I had a bright red loss of blood , did go for a scan and was told I had miscarried. So when I started to get the pains I just thought it was a normal part of miscarriage and I had to brave it out. My ovarian tube burst approx 11 wks after pregnancy confirmation. My blood counters were also very low. Trust your instincts. Best wishes

Oh and also in the later stages pain in my shoulders. I was told by surgeon afterwards this is a common symptom

Jakc · 05/02/2020 23:45

They need to do more hgc bloods, that will tell you if it is ectopic. Mines ruptured at 6 weeks so don’t wait. Go in and demand more bloods

Jakc · 07/02/2020 11:59

How are you feeling now?

Ames8 · 07/02/2020 12:36

Hey @Jakc I'm just waiting for my appointment at hospital now. I had to go an hour early for bloods. Apparently I have to come back sunday for more bloods. So I'm unsure what they will do at my appointment.

Today I feel really weak. It's a weird feeling I don't know if that's connected.

Thank you ladies. X

I had an ectopic a few years ago now. I also had the feeling of something just not being right. Along with spotting and pain around my left ovary (which is where it was). The day I went to hospital I was due to go on a 12 hour flight that evening! Hence why I went to be checked. The EPU were very good in my case, saw me first thing that morning, rushed through tests etc. Had I not been flying I don't know whether they would have seen me or not. I was around 5 weeks at that point.

LividLaughLovely · 07/02/2020 14:07

EPU should see you as a priority. They can do placement scans from about five weeks to check for ectopic.

Mine put me in intensive care.

Meruem · 07/02/2020 14:48

I just wanted to add, while the risk of it rupturing is very real and must be taken seriously. It's not a definite that will happen. Mine resolved itself with no intervention.

Jakc · 07/02/2020 14:55

The fluid coming from you is familiar to my ectopic, it wasn’t like period blood it was watery and the weird feeling.. the blood result today should give you a much better idea in comparison to your one on Monday xx

Ames8 · 07/02/2020 15:12

Hey ladies. They said they can't see anything on scan. So pregnancy of unknown location. To have my bloods done again sunday my hcg is just over 1000 now.
I explained the blood and they said nothing to worry about. They also said my terrible back pain is not connected. They said they will scan me in 2 -3 weeks. I'm really worried and don't know what to do

OP posts:
BlueLadybird · 07/02/2020 16:34

Was it your IVF clinic who said this? Did they say it was too early to see?

I would ask your clinic for a rescan earlier than 2-3 weeks. They may charge extra if you’re NHS or part of a package but they really ought to do it.

Ames8 · 07/02/2020 16:57

@BlueLadybird it was at the hospital. They said they should see something by now so unknown location.
What confused me is that my pain is on my left side and the doctor at the hospital keep saying that's ok because I ovulated from my right ovary. I explained that it was a frozen embryo transfer and he just said well you ovulated from your right so if ectopic it would be in your right side so pain in left side is nothing! Really frustrating.

LividLaughLovely · 07/02/2020 17:50

No, this really isn’t good enough care.

You need to push to see another doctor and stress that you have symptoms of ectopic.

I have no idea why they haven’t taken this seriously. I hate to put the pressure on YOU, but you really do need to advocate for yourself now.

It can’t wait over the weekend. Go to another hospital if that’s what you need to do.

LividLaughLovely · 07/02/2020 17:52

Also, my ruptured ectopic was after IVF. I never knew it was considered an additional risk factor - assumes because it didn’t come down the tubes that it wasn’t a risk.

I lost a tube and 3.5 litres of blood. Not saying that WILL happen to you, but the risk can’t be dismissed.

Ames8 · 07/02/2020 21:07

@LividLaughLovely I'm so sorry to hear you went through that lovely. What a horrible time . I naively assumed the same. After reading I see there is more of a risk.
I will definitely try and get help somehow.
I'm abit shocked at the care really.
My pain has got worse and sorry to be gross but my bleeding was just abit odd. It was like brown water when I wiped I felt a gush then it was red. Then back dark brown. I don't get how that can happen.

Can I ask if you ever got back pain? Or got really hot? Sorry for the questions. X

Jakc · 07/02/2020 21:08

Don’t let them leave you that long, at 6 weeks they should at least see something on the scan. Mines was the same they couldn’t see anything so said unknown location.

It was so quick when it did rupture, I honestly thought I was going to die the pain was horrendous. You need to at the very least make sure someone is with you at all times. I couldn’t have phoned ambulance myself. But please any pain at all go back in. I also lost my tube. I was only 6 weeks too. X

hennyspennys · 07/02/2020 21:10

Is the fluid like watery prune juice?
Go to A&E, if it might be an ectopic then don't hang around, go tonight. I hope it's not.

Jakc · 07/02/2020 21:10

Just read what you just wrote there. Please go back in now, all of your symptoms were exactly like mine

Fuzzyspringroll · 07/02/2020 22:07

I had a PUL with my first pregnancy. No pain, just lots of spotting. Took about 6 weeks to resolve and if I hadn't flown abroad for my wedding, they would have used medical management. Luckily it resolved itself without intervention.

Second one got spotted when I was about 8 weeks along. Had a sharp pain deep in my thigh during the night and just didn't feel right. Went to GP the next day, who sent me to be seen by the gynaecology team at the hospital as a possible emergency (due to previous ectopic). Got admitted that day and had an operation to remove it from my tube. No other pain or any major blood loss.

I was scanned as a priority case by our EPU at 6 weeks in my third pregnancy just for precaution. Luckily worked out that time and DS is now 3. So they should have some idea by now. I'm amazed they allowed you to go back home. I wasn't even allowed to get any clothes that second time.

We're trying to conceive again but I have endometriosis and my tubes are blocked, so we'll need help again.

Mummy0ftwo12 · 07/02/2020 22:15

They are doing what I would expect (I had similar) - they have identified a pregnancy of unknown location and are monitoring your HCG levels every 48 hours.

Sorry OP it does sound like eptopic/pregnancy of unknown location - if your HCG levels are still worrying on Sunday they might give you medication otherwise monitor until they came down to safe levels. Obviously if it ruptured or they thought it was about to, they would operate.

Mummy0ftwo12 · 07/02/2020 22:16

Call the EPU again if you are worried though they must have people working all night.

Melmel22 · 08/02/2020 12:37

Hi guys I’m looking for any information and advice I can get on this. A week ago I have been diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and I have been sent for surgery. After the operation I have been informed that in fact it was not an ectopic pregnancy and that I am still pregnant. Has anyone went through the same and ended having a healthy pregnancy? Sorry I'm new here

Jakc · 09/02/2020 15:54

Melmel usually unless an ectopic ruptures you would have got an injection to abort the pregnancy first which would usually dissolve the pregnancy? Sometimes injection doesn’t work so would then need the operation. Did you get injection first? Had they checked your hormone levels?

Ames8 how are you feeling now? X
