35 weeks, cramping and my lower back is hurting

I'm 35 weeks today with number 4. With my first 2, I was induced at 41+3 and 40+5. My 3rd came at 40+3 on her own.

I've been having stomach cramps like period pains on and off all day. My lower back has been aching a lot too. I had a bath to try to ease it but it's actually got worse.

Do I need to call the hospital?

I would. Good luck

yukka · 04/02/2020 20:40

I would call. Could be Braxton-Hicks hicks but they tend to stop when you move.

stoplickingthetelly · 04/02/2020 20:40

My first labour started like this, but my real contractions didn’t start until my waters broke. You probably don’t need to go to hospital just yet. You could always ring the labour ward for advice?

Ring up for advice.

CormoranStrike · 04/02/2020 20:49

Sounds very like labour to me - time to call in.

Good luck

I rang up and they have told me to take some paracetomal and if it doesn't improve, or gets worse, in the next two hours to go in.

Waters have broke. I'm terrified. It's far too early. Just waiting for my parents to come over. Typically, my DH's parents who live next door are away for the week.

don't worry - it'll be fine xxxx Good luck OP

Felicitycity · 04/02/2020 22:07

One of mine was born at 36 weeks. He was fine. You'll be ok. Good luck.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/02/2020 22:09

Don’t be terrified. A lot of 35 weekers won’t even need admitting to SCBU. But you might have a slightly longer stay on the postnatal ward.

LuubyLuu · 04/02/2020 22:11

No need to be terrified! It's just because this is earlier than your previous pregnancies. Full term is 37 weeks, you're only a couple off that.
Just get your bag together, sit down with a cuppa and get your head together.

TheNoiseHurts · 04/02/2020 22:25

Nah you'll be fine.

I've worked on special care baby units, 35weekers are grand.

Good luck!

hellosidney · 04/02/2020 22:29

Good luck OP! Hope all goes well.xx

turnedabout · 04/02/2020 22:41

Don't panic! This happened to me at 35 weeks, my baby arrived perfectly healthy and yours will be too. Xx

yukka · 04/02/2020 23:03

Oh good luck op, 35 weeks is fine hope it's not complicated for you.

lljkk · 04/02/2020 23:14

Excited for you. xx

EmMcK · 04/02/2020 23:16

Good luck OP

Legomanships · 04/02/2020 23:20

Lots of twins born at that age, good luck, don’t panic ❤️

LemonadeAndSchnapps · 04/02/2020 23:21

Don't worry. I'm currently sat here feeding my 5 day old 35 weeker. You and the baby will be perfectly fine.

itmsylifeitsnowornever · 05/02/2020 09:35

Thanks everyone. I have yet to start contracting. If nothing happens by 3pm they'll start induction.

How’s it going?

Xiaoxiong · 05/02/2020 13:57

DS2 born at that point by ELCS and was lovely, not as roly poly chubster as his brother born at 42 weeks but perfectly healthy, we went home within 24 hours!

itmsylifeitsnowornever · 05/02/2020 16:45

I was induced at 3:20. Nothing happening yet.

OP posts:
TheNoiseHurts · 05/02/2020 18:10

Similar happened to me OP, not the early part but the waters breaking, cramping then nothing.

They must have done it differently to how you're having your induction though because they put me straight on a syntocin drip.

They said there's no point doing pessaries etc because that's just to open the cervix enough for the waters to break and they had already broken 🤷🏼‍♀️

What have you had done so far?

TheNoiseHurts · 05/02/2020 18:10

My waters broke at 37 weeks though but he was definitely not ready to come IMO.
