Just a quick question. In a chain restaurant, my son has eaten a quater of a small pizza which when I noticed, was raw pastry.
I know there are risks of stomach bugs from eating raw pastry, the restaurant did replace it, but would you ask them to note it somewhere in case he does get unwell?

F&B? Farrow and Ball? You've lost me there, OP.

sparkylove · 01/02/2020 20:53

@DartmoorChef you ate raw sausages? I've heard of someone else doing that but thought it was a myth Shock

dappledsunshine · 01/02/2020 20:57

You're getting a hard time op.

I understand what you mean about logging it. I think the chances of him getting ill are low but serving undercooked food is not acceptable. I'm not sure there would be anywhere for them to log it though- maybe ask to speak to a supervisor/manager if you're worried?

I used to eat raw pastry as a child. Even now I still do it. Never done any harm so don't worry.

LilQueenie · 01/02/2020 21:05

DartmoorChef I ate raw sausage too. Thought I was the only one!

ChristmasCarcass · 01/02/2020 21:07

I’m more confused about how you failed to notice the pizza hadn’t been cooked. A raw pizza looks very different to a cooked one, didn’t you notice that none of the cheese had melted and it was stone cold? And how did your son manage to eat a quarter of one before he noticed it was squidgy? Baffling.

Supersimkin2 · 01/02/2020 21:09

Ooh cookie dough Grin Well done DS

Clymene · 01/02/2020 21:12

The food at frankie and benny's is bloody awful. I think undercooked pizza dough is probably par for the course

mrsm43s · 01/02/2020 21:13

The restaurant noting it down does not have any powers to stop your son becoming ill.

If your son does (extremely unlikely) become ill, surely you can tell the GP about the undercooked pizza.

How do you think noting it down will help?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/02/2020 21:13

Pretty much my favourite part of the run-up to Christmas is scraping out the bowl after I make the Christmas cake. I deliberately leave extra batter because it is so nice.

lunar1 · 01/02/2020 21:17

Are you wanting it written down so you have evidence?

Hadtoask · 01/02/2020 21:17

@SnickettyLemon haha I’m trying to get that image out of my mind.

Op I am a really anxious person but this kind of worrying has given my children terrible anxiety so I would suggest that if you can ignore the worry you will be much better off.

MintyMabel · 01/02/2020 21:21

I've eaten raw cake mix my whole life and never had a problem, but will think twice about letting kids lick the bowl in future.

I’d have thought the raw eggs would be a much bigger risk there, which is why I won’t let DD lick the bowl.

LizzieSiddal · 01/02/2020 21:23

Farrow and Ball sell pizzas?

That was my first thought too 😂
Elephants breath pizza with a splash of Mouse’s Back.

Anyways OP please don’t worry, your da will be fine.

LizzieSiddal · 01/02/2020 21:24

Licking the bowl of cake mixture is the best bit!!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 01/02/2020 22:08

Why do I want it noted? So they have a trail for food hygiene purposes. If you don't report something at the time, with paper evidence of doing so, they could deny anything happened. Thus their practice of food preparation would not be scrutinised to see if there was something they could put in place to reduce the likelihood of reoccurance.

I wouldn't sue a company for a tummy upset.

I would sue a company if my child had life changing concequences from something obviously.

I've never sued anyone for anything. I have complained when things have happened of course.

F&B on a google search shows Frankie & Benny's as the 2nd result.

How did I not notice? The top was cooked, the middle of the pizza, under the toppings, was raw. So it looked fine unless I picked it up and turned it over first. Which I wouldn't... my son cut it up and ate the first quarter. Then I noticed.

I’d consider reporting it to the Environmental Health Department at your local council .

FenellaMaxwell · 01/02/2020 22:16

You can’t be that good safety conscious if you eat at Frankie and Benny’s Confused

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 01/02/2020 22:16

What are the statistics on people in the U.K. getting really ill from eating a small amount of raw dough?
You have to put things in perspective don’t you? I dread to think what things my dc’s have eaten inadvertently over the years. It wouldn’t have even occurred to me to be worried about it!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 01/02/2020 22:19

@withlotsoflove I trained quite a while ago. It has been covered in my annual updates though. So this is why I know it is one causes of gasteroenteritis

OP posts:
ThisMustBeMyDream · 01/02/2020 22:21

Why not @FenellaMaxwell.

Oh my goodness I’ll inform my childs nursery immediately and make sure they stop letting the children do messy play with flour and water. Didn’t realise it was so dangerous!

FenellaMaxwell · 01/02/2020 22:23

Google it! It makes for some utter face palm worthy reading. My favourite is their repeat track record at hospitalising toddlers by serving them spirits. That doesn’t strike me as a place where food and beverage safety is the top of their radar!

TrainspottingWelsh · 01/02/2020 22:36

Clearly the expensive paint restaurant haven't taken your very reasonable concerns seriously. Other wise they would have noted it on numerous paper napkins and left them in a trail for food hygiene purposes. They've had their chance and failed.

Now you should contact environmental health, your mp, and the WHO. And the BBC, they have a duty to inform the public about the dangers of soggy pizza.

Was this your first time out in a decade?
