Sick of the auto correct and something I reply to a post then go back to it and it gobbledygook

You can't edit your post.

ShowOfHands · 01/02/2020 15:29

You can't. Use the preview function?

Porkeypine · 01/02/2020 15:29

I’ve seen posts where people lines have been put through words or sentences though? I assumed they could go in to edit. Wonder how they do that

OP posts:
PootleandPosey · 01/02/2020 15:31

You can’t you can add crossed out text but not edit

NiktheGreek · 01/02/2020 15:31

There's a preview function.

Timetastic · 01/02/2020 15:32

You can’t edit your post once it’s posted and tbh if you could all the grammar fanatics and people that disagree with you would have nothing to point out - and that would make them very unhappy Sad

megletthesecond · 01/02/2020 15:34

time Grin

Absolutepowercorrupts · 01/02/2020 15:34

The crossed out lines thing happens when you hit this - twice immediately before the sentence and immediately after

Twenty2 · 01/02/2020 15:35

There's no preview on the app. I bloody wish there was!

Porkeypine · 01/02/2020 15:46

I’m going to practice to see if it works here we go

OP posts:
Porkeypine · 01/02/2020 15:47

And let’s -as it clearly- didn’t work the first time

OP posts:
Porkeypine · 01/02/2020 15:47

Nahhh I can do the line thing?

WombatStewForTea · 01/02/2020 15:48

Seriously use the preview button to check it works

AdaColeman · 01/02/2020 15:49

The strike out feature isn't used for corrections, it's used mainly for comic effect!

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 01/02/2020 15:49

You need to use double dashes to get the crossed out text like this

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 01/02/2020 15:50

Oh cross post! Well done Smile

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2020 15:54

Just use preview, I always do.

The crossed out thing isn't an edit, it's sort of an MN joke where you type something then cross out the bit you really want to say but shouldn't.

To cross out you do cross out but with no gaps between the dashes and the words, so cross out

iklboo · 01/02/2020 15:57

Just use preview, I always do.

There's no preview on the app.

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2020 16:33

Ah, I didn't know that iklboo, I don't use the app.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 01/02/2020 16:37

If you’re using an iPhone (and possibly other phones) the double dash thing automatically corrects it to — , which won’t make the strike work. I find it easier to just select the italic button below the message box and select the styling options that way.

Twitter recently announced it wasn’t going to introduce an editing feature and I thought thank god. Can you imagine the underhanded things that people could do? If someone ‘liked’ an innocent post and then that person replaced it with a racist photo, for example. People wouldn’t be able to defend themselves.
