Wedding bar- would you be disappointed?

We are getting married in the summer and currently stocking up for our wedding bar. We will have plenty of the basics:

Champagne
Red wine
White wine
Vodka
A couple of gins
A spiced rum
A couple of whiskeys
Malibu (close relative loves it!)
A barrel of real ale from a local brewery
Bottles of lager and craft lager
Cider
Fruit ciders
Pimms if its hot

I'm only dealing with the alcohol bit of this for now- there will be plenty of mixers and non alcoholic options too. Bar will be stocked with fruit and ice.

What have I missed? If you went up to that bar would there be something you are happy drinking?

I like peach schnapps as it doesn't get me too drunk.

However I could make do with gin and just switch between alcohol and soft drinks.

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 22:17

It's a pretty big do but we will do our calculations and over-buy. Majestic wine do sale or return up to 25% so we can go a bit overboard just in case.

Don't go crazy! People will drink less than you think.
We did our own bar and ordered all the things we thought people would like, having a horror of running out of anything.
The venue pointed out when we delivered it that we had 23 alcohol drinks per adult 😂. We ended up with more than half of it left and that was with it being a free bar.
We did however order it all from the supermarket and so were able to return much of the unopened bottles/cases the following week.

I was going to say shots! We had jäger bombs at our wedding. Also a summer wedding and we put lots of ice lollies behind the bar it was such a hot day adults and kids ate them all.

ChipsAreLife · 31/01/2020 22:19

Sounds lovely! I would add a nice rose think Provence not white Zinfandel as it's so lovely in the summer. Good luck!

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 22:20

I did consider shots but thought better of it! I might buy a few bottles of jager or something and hide then away but then get them out if it feels right

I cant think of any rose drinkers but will get a couple of bottles just in case. Going to use this thread as my shopping list.

Port for the speeches

Redtartanshoes · 31/01/2020 22:32

Sounds like a most excellent wedding

notacooldad · 31/01/2020 22:39

Ooh, maybe a Baileys?
Bailey's at a summer wedding?

To be honest judging by local tastes I only see people drinking Bailey's at Christmas and over the last 40 years I can't recall anyone ordering in a pub! ( and I love Bailey's!)
You have more than covered the basics. I would be careful not to get bogged down on individual tastes otherwise and potentially have a lot of waste.

Girlonatubetrain2 · 31/01/2020 22:42

Rose wine and pink gin
Both very popular at the weddings 40ths/50ths that I've been to

helpfulperson · 31/01/2020 22:43

The only disappointment is that I'm not invited. Sounds amazing.

notacooldad · 31/01/2020 22:45

Are you going to have someone managing the bar or is it a free for all?
If it's a help yourself I would suggest you don't put everything out at once. You don't want loads of half opened bottles of the same drink left over or people opening a bottle of gin and just taking one glass full

BIWI · 31/01/2020 22:45

Port for speeches?! Champagne, surely?

And yes, to echo PP, I'd love to come - sounds amazing!

BigRedFlower · 31/01/2020 22:47

Bailey's at a summer wedding?

There was a strawberries and cream baileys last summer- it was free every time I went through Heathrow

newlifenewme2020 · 31/01/2020 22:51

I would def say a brandy and make sure you have plenty of gin. Peach snaps is quite popular and the ALDI 5 quid version is just as good as archers
Forget shots I would not expect them at a wedding

MeanMrMustardSeed · 31/01/2020 22:52

I think differently to lots of people on this thread. I’d reduce the options but have plenty of each. People will love the free bar and are out to enjoy themselves - they’ll have an amazing time and will be happy to drink something that isn’t necessarily their go to. Like a decent cheese board - go big with fewer than lots of smaller odds and sods.

And put as much effort into the non alcoholic choices! Love the Dalston’s cans.

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 23:06

We have paid bar staff to pour the drinks so it wont be a free for all.

Port?! I'm afraid the guests will have plain old champers for the toast

I will do a similar thread for soft drinks a bit nearer the time. This has been incredibly helpful.

Sounds great. When should we expect our invitations?!

newlifenewme2020 · 31/01/2020 23:24

Port for the toast- is this the 1920s Grin

notacooldad · 01/02/2020 00:01

I forgot about the flavored ones as I don't like them.
I associate Bailey's with being snuggled up in front of the woodburner at Christmas with shortbread!!

BarbedBloom · 01/02/2020 00:07

I am teetotal but that sounds similar to a friend's wedding and everyone was really happy. With soft drinks please don't only provide diet drinks as someone I know did. Aspartemene makes me really unwell.
