What's some good cosy escapist TV?

I'm having a hard time with my mental health and need some dramas to watch. Preferably cosy or easy viewing. BBC IPlayer and other catch-up services are full of box sets but I don't know where to begin. Any recommendations old or new would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Anything originally broadcast on bbc1 at 8pm on a Sunday evening - what I call “The Ballykisangel Slot”.

Just having a revisit of Car Share - that's lovely cozy viewing and gets funnier the more times you watch it Smile

What channel is it @Sewrainbow?

Mrs Maisel - fabulous frocks!

I'm watching 'The Rookie', Nathan Fillion as a 40+ guy who decides to be a cop.

It has humour, fluff and the occasional shock.

Death in Paradise, especially if you count the number of things a small island in the caribbean has, nature reserve, scientific studies, zoo, newspapers, art gallery, diving clubs...

Yet there are only 4 police officers at a small police station and none of them work a night shift.

Plus Harry must be the oldest lizard in history.

I'm currently watching The Magicians on Amazon prime video. It's like the sci-fi channel made an adult version of Harry Potter. A bit daft, easy to watch, entertaining silliness.

All the series’ of Outnumbered is on iPlayer at the moment - love it!

TitchyP · 02/02/2020 08:27

Second most of what's been said

Mum
Detectorists
Old series of Bake Off (all on Netflix or is it Amazon?) at the moment
Friends (all on Netflix)
Extras
Dinnerladies - all can be found on YouTube
Father Ted
Gavin and Stacey

So many!

InspectorAlleyn · 02/02/2020 09:54

Parks and Recreation
30 Rock
Life in Pieces - I don’t think I’ve seen this recommended yet?
Miss Marple
Poirot
Midsomer Murders
Brooklyn 99
The IT Crowd
Father Ted

Definitely one of my coping strategies is to watch cosy TV.

The vicar of dibley
The golden girls

PuppyMonkey · 02/02/2020 11:23

Anne with an E on Netflix - currently addicted.

cricketmum84 · 02/02/2020 11:27

The good place if you have Netflix

Gavin and Stacey - me and DH binge watched before the Christmas special

Random but Christmas films always give me an uplifting feeling - regardless of the time of year.

I watch a lot of Star Trek when I'm low - reminds me that the future can be a wonderful and exciting place and gives me hope we can overcome our challenges as a species.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 03/02/2020 10:41

Another couple for you OP - 'Born and Bred', it's a very gentle drama as is 'The Darling Buds of May'.

Gogolego · 21/02/2020 18:43

I've just started watching This Is Us on amazon prime! It's fab!

it might be slightly less fluffy than virgin river etc but it's quite funny and there's parts I'm finding a bit emotional but that might just be me!
