What's some good cosy escapist TV?

I'm having a hard time with my mental health and need some dramas to watch. Preferably cosy or easy viewing. BBC IPlayer and other catch-up services are full of box sets but I don't know where to begin. Any recommendations old or new would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Oh northern rescue and virgin river on Netflix both good too

Meathmum · 31/01/2020 21:13

Gilmore Girls, Mad men & The Good Place . Easy watching, cosy & heartwarming. Hope you feel better soon

RedIsWhereItsAt · 31/01/2020 21:20

@crustycrab

Last Tango in Halifax is coming back for another series this year apparently.

applepineapple · 31/01/2020 21:20

Detectorists!!!

TowerRingInferno · 31/01/2020 21:21

Dectectorists.

Hi OP
Sorry you are feeling low
Like pp have mentioned, Call the midwife is heartwarming as is Mum. Others I've enjoyed which have cheered me up or comforted me are
King Gary
Downton Abbey
On Netflix Grace and Frankie
On sky The Mindy Project

Northernmum100 · 31/01/2020 21:24

Virgin River on Netflix is lovely. Really mellow, no thinking required which is sometimes just what i need.

Powerplant · 31/01/2020 21:30

I second the 1900 Island so lovely to watch oh and one other John Nettles in Midsomer Murder

Proseccoagain · 31/01/2020 22:45

Another recommendation here for The Mallorca Files.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 31/01/2020 22:52

I would never describe Vera as cosy! More like bleak and depressing. My cosy go to shows are, Johnathan Creek, Miss Marple, Agatha Raisin, Midsomer murders, Father Brown (super cosy) Death in Paradise, The Mallorca Files and The Coroner (still distraught that BBC cancelled it).

squashyhat · 31/01/2020 22:57

Anne with an E on Netflix. Also second Heartland and Virgin River. Chesapeake Shores is a bit too cheesy.

fartingsparkles · 31/01/2020 23:03

I love Darling Buds of May :) and Diagnosis Murder is fab

My go to is Alibi channel (or UkTV Drama channel - often have same shows). Father Brown, Death in Paradise, Murdoch Mysteries, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, New Tricks - easy to watch and done in an hour!

My current watch however includes Traffic Cops and Police Interceptors!!

milliefiori · 31/01/2020 23:07

Parks & Rec is funny, friendly and feelgood (except the way they all treat Jerry.)

disappointed101 · 31/01/2020 23:08

Bondi Rescue on you tube

eternalfun · 31/01/2020 23:08

Death in paradise. Light, funny murder mystery set in the Caribbean, beautiful beaches and scenery. What’s not to like at this time of year?!

On iplayer.

Spieluhr · 31/01/2020 23:10

Thank you all so much for the other recommendations. They're much appreciated.

I remember being on mat leave with my first watching the House of Elliott from start to finish. Many a pre-dawn feeding session was made bearable by that series. Good frocks too.

BikeRunSki · 31/01/2020 23:11

Came in to say The Detectorists, it is the epitome of cost TV. Currently on iPlayer.

Tarabelle · 31/01/2020 23:15

Detectorists is superb in every way.
Also really enjoyed Fosse Verdon recently.

JoyceDivision · 31/01/2020 23:21

Jam and Jerusalem, binge watch the three series, it's brilliant

riotlady · 31/01/2020 23:29

If you have Amazon, Marvellous Mrs Maisel is really funny and quite easy going

midsomermurderess · 31/01/2020 23:30

Detectoristscis lovely but I think it does it a disservice to call it cosy, it so much better than that.
