Dull thread alert - Shark or Dyson?

I've owned and loved Dysons for around 25 years now. My third, a DC39 Animal, is coming to the end of it's life so I'm looking to replace it this weekend.

We're a four adult household with a dog.

I've never had a problem with Dysons but I keep reading good things about Sharks and they are a bit cheaper.
I don't want cordless (I also have a cordless Dyson but it's not enough for a proper clean up, just a quick go over on the upholstery or stairs) and don't want to spend more that £300.

Has anyone swapped to a Shark from Dyson and not regretted it? I'm usually very brand loyal.

Yes, Shark for me too. I've had 3 Dysons over the years and now have had the Shark Liftaway (corded) for over 12 months. No comparison for me, tbe Shark is miles better than any Dyson I've had. Also the Shark is definitely much lighter and easier to use than the Dysons.

I vacuum every day in a fairly small house because I have a dog. The shark will fill in a week. It's amazing and clearly picks up more than other vacuums because no other I've ever had has needed emptying so often.

Can anyone tell me if Sharks can go flat enough to go under beds? (That looks really odd!) My ancient hoover is dying, but the handle goes completely horizontal which is great for under furniture. "Which" reports don't cover this feature.

My dyson broke last week and I borrowed MIL's
Shark.
It's brilliant my mum also has one but wouldn't rate the pet shark as much as the normal shark. I'll be purchasing a shark hoover at the weekend Grin

@LadyAddle if you get a lift away model you can take off the cylinder/motor and are left with a long pole with the head attached. I find this goes under most things

@FairfaxAikman Thanks very much, I didn't understand that's what lift away meant - very helpful!
