Been in majors for almost 9 hours , suspected meningitis originally but being treated for another kind of infection and waiting to be scanned as I’m 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow . I was put on IV fluids , 2 litres as my blood pressure plummeted, temp rose to 40, very sick, given morphine , antibiotics and paracetamol so feeling a bit more alive . DH fast asleep on my bedside bless him.
So whilst I’m waiting to be moved to MAU and a ward , I thought I’d log on here for some company whilst DH sleeps. Ask me anything (doesn’t have to be hospital related !)

Absolutely not. Hope you feel better and that the scan is a positive one.

@haggisfish thank you I’ll let you know. Amoxicillin is making me feel terrible 😩

That's fantastic news! So relieved for you.

My Mum fell and broke her wrist - badly - on a golf course when she was heavily pregnant with my DB. She needed major surgery to repair it, but they were so worried about how everything would affect the pregnancy (1984) they just bodged it. Her wrist is very wonky.

GaaaaarlicBread · 04/02/2020 11:15

@CornishPorsche oh bless her ! I think we are so lucky these days with science and medicine etc !
When my Grandma was pregnant (she’s a mother of 8) , she got pregnant when she had the coil Which was the first shock, and back then in the 70’s she said they didn’t do the scans and they just measured bump and listened to the heart etc , anyway she went into labour before she was due surgery to have her tonsils out as she’s suffered with tonsillitis all throughout her pregnancy , surgery got cancelled and she got taken to labour ward-and had triplets and had no idea the whole 9 months that it was more than one baby! She had surgery afterwards 🤣
