How did you choose your MN name?

First of all, apologies if this is a subject that's been done to death. I haven't seen it since I've been here but I'm sure it must have been asked before.

Any road up...

I was reading "Magic Flutes" by Eva Ibbotson on the day I signed up and the opera featuring La Marschallin was mentioned in it (Der Rosenkavalier? Sorry, not sure of the spelling).

It didn't give any particular clues to my identity (apart from "La" meaning I'm probably female) and I was enjoying the book.

So, that's how I became LaMarschallin (LaMars for short).

How did you become you... ? Smile

I was pregnant with my DS when I first discovered MN - unoriginal but I was craving cake at the time of joining 🧁

I'd noticed quite a few Terry Pratchett names and hadn't realised that some were in tribute after his diagnosis; I hope someone told him, I think he'd have liked that.

Jilly Cooper is right up there with Eva Ibbotson and Terry P. as one of my favourite authors which meant I felt very at home when I first joined MN.

There's at least two of my favourite names on this thread and some I hadn't seen before but am very taken by Smile

I change mine very regularly. I really don't want to get recognised on here for various reasons, it's far too public.

I use all sorts, films, tv, music, random nonsense.

I like the song 96 Tears by Question Mark and the Mysterians.

Ma'am! Is that you?

(I take your point. I used to post on a much smaller message board where it was relatively easy to spot people. I'm very careful what I post here.
Just as well really since I don't know how to name-change)

I namechange every so often. I wanted a punny name this time and came up with "the tit of the iceberg". The Lang bit is a reference to Lang Cleg, a now-banned and much-missed FWR poster who is a staunch protector of safeguarding children.

Something to do with a combination of 'hold my beer' and living in Maine.

Love a flat white
