Finally having done work colleagues round for food in a few weeks. Think we'll do tapas - dp makes the best Patatas bravas and tortilla! What would you like to see on the menu????

Paella!

KittenVsBox · 28/01/2020 21:37

Patatas bravas!

Chorizo in some sort of sticky sauce, and ham and cheese croquettes.

Croquetas de pollo! They are a ball ache to make but worth it.

DariaMorgendorffer · 28/01/2020 21:43

I would like to add:
Goats cheese stuffed piquillos
Chorizo al vino
All washed down with a cold glass of cava.

Love tapas!

Gambas al ajo
Pimientos de padron (usually available in our Sainsburys these days)
Jamon Iberico

Clevs · 28/01/2020 21:48

Paella washed down with a jug of Sangria!

Greywind1523 · 28/01/2020 21:48

Padron peppers
Some kind of prawn dish

BillieEilish · 28/01/2020 21:51

I second Pimientos de padron with course sea salt. Easy Peasy to do.
Jamon Iberico.
Tortilla de patatas.
Lovely hard cheese.
Big salad, plain but well dressed
Olives.
Nice bread.
Maybe a chickpea stew? But above is enough.
Gambas a wonderful idea, but difficult to get right.

I wouldn't do paella if the evening. Not traditional.

When we went to an amazing tapas bar in Barcelona, we had something we call Spanish Chips. (We cant remember the proper name)
It's basically very skinny fries in a deep bowl, topped with aioli mixed with smoked paprika and finally a soft fried egg on top. The egg is chopped up and everything mixed together in the bowl. Soooo delish!

TheBitterBoy · 28/01/2020 22:05

Berenjenas fritas is my absolute favourite. Also love a good manchego

TheClitterati · 28/01/2020 22:05

Parton peppers

A fine dry sherry.

TheClitterati · 28/01/2020 22:06

Egghead68 · 28/01/2020 22:07

chorizo in red wine

Ffsnosexallowed · 28/01/2020 22:20

Thank you all. Pimientos del padron are another definite. Think I'll do some sort of Chiltern /chorizo /black pudding thing. And Croquettes...

Thinking Tarte de Santiago and crema catalan too??

kitk · 28/01/2020 22:26

Another vote for berenjenas fritas. Ever had any success making them at home @thebitterboy

BlouseAndSkirt · 28/01/2020 22:29

Chipirones and Puntilitas.
Probably hard to to at home in the UK.

TheBitterBoy · 28/01/2020 22:33

kitk not really, I think you'd need a proper deep fat fryer to make good ones at home. They're not bad shallow fried, but not as good as the tapas bars in Spain

BillieEilish · 28/01/2020 22:42

You're not going to be able to source and cook chiperones, that takes serious talent.

When I come home OP I do the following...

Salted almonds is a great idea...
Fried slices of chorizo
Fried pimientos de padron
Tortilla de patatas
Lovely sliced bread
Olives
Manchego
Sliced tomato and onion salad
Jamon

I'd do fruit for pud. Maybe a big fruit salad with booze. Or sorbet with booze.
Some lovely lindor chocs or similar and nice coffee?

Pudding isn't really a big thing here.
