Not just their return but the whole years accounts. Blush

I’m fucked. I will get it done in time, they’re not especially complex, just long winded and a faff. But why do I do this to myself??

I will do that DustyMaiden! Let’s get organised!

A bonus to doing them before July also means you can choose to reduce your July payment on account if you've earned less.

But a decent accountant will check things over and do a "sanity check" to make sure things look right, watch out for common mistakes, etc.

Ah, well, I assume my accountant does that bit I am the client that gets a discount for having the best organised accounts of all her clients. And two years running I have noticed things she has left out (that were on the spreadsheet I sent her) and never once has she come back to me to check if I've missed anything she was expecting.

Oh, she did once notice an error in my formula for VAT and I did have to contact them to say I had underpaid by c£90 (she doesn't do my VAT, I do it, I had somehow added a zero into the formula after the decimal point, but not for every cell, it was a bit odd and took me an hour or so to untangle).

Tax return done Smile - thanks to this thread! I had been procrastinating somewhat.

Not paid yet though...

Muddlingalongalone · 29/01/2020 23:31

Yay all done & paid - mostly due to the reminder every time I go on threads I'm on😂
With the exception of looking up my p60 on work system simultaneously I've done the whole thing on my phone. Love tech!

Haha glad to have been of service Grin

Done.
I get so caught up with the feeling of dread about doing it I forget the feeling of relief when it's done.

1forsorrow · 30/01/2020 13:21

Just submitted and paid, every year I say I will do it early. Maybe we should start the thread in May.

Good idea, this is the first year I've done it early and it was such a relief. I don't normally spend all my time worrying about it but it is a niggle at the back of my mind.

NotAPan · 01/02/2020 00:02

I submitted at 3am on 31st.

Definitely the worst ive ever been!

Submitted at 22.40 on the 31st and paid at 22.47. Really do not recommend leaving it that late.

I'm on the fainting couch just thinking about that. I realised mid way through January I had made a mistake on mind and hat to submit an alteration.

Submitted and paid within an hour and I was still having conniptions.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 02/02/2020 07:17

I’m definitely going to start a tax return thread in May! Blush I’m secretly so glad I’m not the only one who procrastinates so badly with this.

This thread has inspired me to build in 30 mins doing my tax return to my admin time at the end of each week. Actually, I wouldn't even need that, it would be more like 5 or 10 mins.

DustyMaiden · 02/02/2020 12:19

Thanks Georgie, definitely needed.
