[Exciting thread of the day alert]

I really need a new sofa but I cannot decide where to buy from. Any recommendations? Anywhere to specifically avoid?

My parents are landlords and a tenant had left an almost new 3 seater in a house so I have that.
I also have a 2 seater sofa bed that my friend bought and then found one they liked better a few months later, so I've got that too. My reclining chair came from the same place :)

Next. And I'm in love with it. Firm but still soooo comfortable, high back, deep seats for curling up. Best sofa I've ever had.

Herecomespenny · 26/01/2020 06:32

British heart foundation. Cost us £50 and we we’re broke at the time.

It’s soooo comfy but we need a new one Sad

Laura Ashley and we are still sitting on it about20 years later and it was in the marked down section because it was a new colour and the dye colour wasn’t quite right. It has faded slightly but otherwise still comfy.

HettyStThomas · 26/01/2020 07:08

My last two have been from Ikea. I'm about to buy the corner Nokeby as our current two seater is just too small with two growing children. I cannot wait to curl up on it.

Redrosesandsunsets · 26/01/2020 07:12

DFS and it’s been a good sofa.

hoochymamgu · 26/01/2020 07:15

Ecktorp in the kitchen, heals one in the sitting room, both cosy.

Next. They are five years old and were in the cheaper end of the range but they look brand new. The toddler is starting to use them as gymnastics equipment more now, so we'll see...

I have friends who bought from Made and the quality was very poor, but I think they got a full refund when it collapsed in the middle (as they should!!)

Barker and Stonehouse. After three years it is sagging and feels like no stuffing in parts of it. Was very expensive as well so pretty unhappy. I wouldn't recommend

Isitreally77 · 26/01/2020 07:33

Next, they weren't cheap but are very comfortable (our sitting and dining rooms looked like a Next showroom).

Hamsterriffic · 26/01/2020 07:37

Next. Expensive and hasn’t lasted well at all. Angry

f00k · 26/01/2020 08:02

Sofology. It's so fucking uncomfortable.

Casino218 · 26/01/2020 08:20

John Lewis £1200 for a Chesterfield style. It's lovely.

Fairylea · 26/01/2020 08:25

Dfs as was the one before this one. Love their sofas! Super comfy and we always do the interest free 4 years thing so we don’t even notice we’re paying for it.

MrsJBaptiste · 26/01/2020 08:32

Living room - M&S but we're looking to replace it as it's nearly 15 years old but has been great.

Sun room - DFS and it's so comfy (althiugh we did paybextra for memory foam cushions) I think they get bad press but we saw loads of sofas we liked there when looking and at really reasonable prices.

happypotamus · 26/01/2020 08:34

DFS. It is the only nice sofa I have ever seen on their adverts, most of them are hideous, but we have had it for 10 years and it is still ok despite us having had 2 DC and a few cats in that time.

MistyIsland · 26/01/2020 10:05

I have a John Lewis one which over 3k brand new got it off Facebook selling site for £50 it was in pristine condition and I took a risk but is lovely so very comfortable.

My other one is a next one - spent ages sitting on them and decided which one I wanted, ordered but delivery was apposed to me 6 weeks long story short I cancelled my order after 12 weeks as I still didn’t have a sofa (next are a shower Of shit) and got the same sofa for £250 off eBay about a year old.

Next customer services was rubbish but I love the sofa.

My brother has one from sofa sofa and it’s lovely.

My parents is from an independent place and again is lovely.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 26/01/2020 10:11

Our current one is IKEA, accessoried with flocks of cushions. Our last one was DFS and it was hardly marked after 10 years. We gave it to a neighbour.

CochonDinde · 26/01/2020 10:19

Thanks all - I've been furiously searching through sofas since this thread - even fell asleep (on my sofa) last night during my search Grin I've just ordered one from DFS. It's ridiculously cheap (which makes me very wary!), but I really liked it and if it's knackered after a year then at least it was cheap Grin
