I’ve only gone and bought minced lamb instead of beef, what can I do with it? Ideas needed please.

Just remember you need to eat lamb hot, or the grease will out.

Natsku · 25/01/2020 15:05

Lamb and mint burgers!

Narcheska · 25/01/2020 15:06

Lasagne or spaghetti Bolognese works just as well with lamb mince

Keema is always nice with nan bread or rice:

Or, continuing the Indian theme, you could shape it into kebabs and serve with salad, bread and raita.

KittenVsBox · 25/01/2020 15:10

Tacos, or burgers as already mentioned

Elouera · 25/01/2020 15:10

Cauliflower mash makes a great substitute for mashed potatoes on a cottage pie (I'm on a low carb diet).

  • Lamb pie with pastry on top
  • Curried lamb served with rice or cous cous
  • kofte
  • lamb burgers

There are 100's of recipes on BBC food or online.

Seasonaldisorder · 25/01/2020 15:11

This. It's a lamb chilli style thing with chickpeas instead of kidney beans. It's utterly gorgeous. I add more harissa....

What were you originally planning, OP?

WestCovina · 25/01/2020 15:12

I second that Gousto one, hands down my favourite Gousto recipe!

CountFosco · 25/01/2020 15:13

I feel the need to buy lamb mince now!

BentNeckLady · 25/01/2020 15:15

Keema!

moofolk · 25/01/2020 15:16

Lamb is my absolute favourite meat.

All of the chickpea / harissa options above, curry, tagine, stew.

Similar burgers or kofta. Nom nom.

I don't hate potatoes so could also go hotpot or shepherds pie (my favourite comfort food). I hate cottage pie as it's so nearly shepherds pie that I can't cope with the disappointment of it being beef instead of lamb.

Controversially though I disagree with lamb in lasagne as it just tastes right with beef so if you're not used to lamb mince anyway I'd steer clear of this or bolognaise. And this from a lamb fan.

Spam88 · 25/01/2020 15:19

I'd go koftes or burgers.

NeedToKnow101 · 25/01/2020 15:21

Koftas, rice and broccoli (lightly simmered then pan fried with garlic and soy sauce) salad.

MitziK · 25/01/2020 15:22

What were you planning to make with beef mince?

You can make Shepherd's pie, lamb burgers (add mint and a bit of cumin, plus a yoghurt/cucumber dressing instead of mayonnaise), plus all the things like moussaka as normal.

You might need to drain off a little more fat than before - if you normally get extra lean beef - as lamb mince tends to be sold with a higher fat percentage, one equal with cheaper beef mince. But that's about it.

cookiemonster5 · 25/01/2020 15:23

I'm making doner then making it into calzones.
