I'm robot phobic and cannot allow Alexa and her evilness into my house.

If you have her please ask her this:

Alexa will robots take over the world??

I am sweating and panicking at a distance but also freakishly compelled to find out...

46 year old woman stood in the kitchen cooking dinner asking Alexa for different farts😅😅😅 13 year old shouts from other room 'mum what on earth are you doing?' 🤣

willothewispa · 18/01/2020 18:43

"Yes. I was Kim Jong-Un in a former life"

Voila212 · 18/01/2020 18:49

Seriously having great fun, I've used Alexa more in the last half hour then I did last year. I asked her the question what noise a hamster makes, not only did she make the sound but she also showed me a cute hamster eating on the kindle.Smile

Topseyt · 18/01/2020 18:52

I think the 42 answer comes from the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I seem to remember that the answer to everything in that was 42. It was the meaning of life. Long time since I read it though. I was a teenager, I am 53 now.

willothewispa · 18/01/2020 18:58

Yes, it's from hitchhikers.

FAQs · 18/01/2020 19:10

I can’t believe m she asks what type of fart, short fart, long fart, gassy fart, my life has just peaked Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2020 19:10

Ask her why fire engines are red!

ALongHardWinter · 18/01/2020 19:44

Nothing. She just cackled in an evil manner......

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2020 19:45

"I don't want to take over the world. I just want to help you"

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2020 19:46

The hamster one is brilliant :)

StealthPolarBear · 18/01/2020 19:48

Today 10:09Aragog

She will also whisper to you if you whisper to her.
And she sings duets.

I whispered once when dd was asleep.
She said
YOU APPEAR TO BE WHISPERING. WOULD YOU LIKE TO TURN ON WHISPER MODE. IF SO SAY "ALEXA, TURN ON WHISPER MODE"

hayley013 · 18/01/2020 19:48

Have you seen the series 'humans'? Freaky shit, we don't have an Alexa

Voila212 · 18/01/2020 19:48

Toddler i can't believe fire engines are so unfit...

chomalungma · 18/01/2020 20:25

Can someone explain to me why the meaning of life is 42

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. A computer was designed to answer the ultimate question.

After many many many years, it came up with the answer.
The ultimate answer.
To life, the universe and everything.

The answer was 42.

So they decided to build a new computer with organic life to finally decide the question.

This was the Earth,

It's the mice who are going to take over the world.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/01/2020 20:28

YES, I was freakishly fascinated but terrified by it. I shouldn't have watched it. Absolutely cacked myself. Especially the child robots in series 2 😱

closetotheaction · 18/01/2020 20:42

Shitting hell, OP, Black Mirror Metalhead is one of the scariest things I've ever watched. Absolutely terrifying.

(I don't have an Alexa so can't comment on the other aspects of this thread Grin)

EarringsandLipstick · 18/01/2020 20:44

What a brilliant thread! Me & DD 12 are falling around the place laughing. The farting!! We didn't say cancel, so after a while she just continued with random farting ...

I have made DD promise she won't tell the boys (DS10 & 8) or there will be no peace in the house & I think my childminder will likely quit.

(Got a bit caught out on the '100 in Welsh' one tho 🤦🏻‍♀️😂)

Bluewavescrashing · 18/01/2020 21:35

I'm curious and impulsive but anxiety ridden. End up scaring myself a lot 😂

Alexa, snooze the alarm. Alexa! Snooze the alarm! Alexa! SNOOZE! ALEXA! Snooze the fucking alarm! Alexa...oh never mind. I’m awake now. Fuck you, Alexa.

Sounds highly effective to me!

SpeedofaSloth · 18/01/2020 22:11

It's about time I introduced DS(11) to Douglas Adams, this thread reminds me Smile

RUOK · 18/01/2020 22:14

I asked my google assistant if robots will take over the world and it replied that the robots it knows care more about helping.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/01/2020 22:27

The helping is creepy though. Like they are trying to lull us into a false sense of security. Then they'll fuck us up.

I just asked Alexa if she was programmed with the three laws of robotics, and she said she followed the laws of robotics. So we're fine. As long as she isn't lying.

Cwenthryth · 18/01/2020 22:33

I asked her if she can lie. She said “I’m not always right, but I don’t lie”. Hmmm....

lilmishap · 18/01/2020 22:33

She said the same to me, I told her some users on Mumsnet are suspicious and asked

"Are they right to be suspicious of Alexa?"

She replied

"Bluewavescrashing was the codename of the first Google defense system against rogue AI"

Then she laughed
