As above really. There's loads of shows which have a live audience - has anyone ever been to one?

SU2C million pound drop and never mind the buzzcocks

OvenGlovesWillTearUsApart · 15/01/2020 01:50

Tiswas when I was 6. I had no idea what was going on.

And a couple of other ATV/Central shows.

It was always something my dad was working on (stills photographer).

BuggaLugga · 15/01/2020 08:04

I was in the audience of Question Time last week!

Gemma2019 · 15/01/2020 08:32

I've been to hundreds over the years, mainly as a perk of jobs I used to have.

The worst ones were Your Face or Mine, Strictly, X Factor final, Clive Anderson chat show - these started off well but lasted for so many hours and you get so stiff and bored and needing a wee. Clive Anderson was 4 hours to film a 1 hour show.

Jonathan Ross show was good, although BBC shows overbook the audience by a stupid amount so you have to get there ridiculously early to stand a hope of getting in.

I used to go to a karaoke show called Night Fever almost every week, which was awesome. Top of the Pops was also great. Also loved Have I Got News for you. Great memories but haven't been to anything for ages now.

QueenOfOversharing · 15/01/2020 08:43

A Xmas Top of the Pops with Reggie Yates & blonde whatshername presenting. Was quite good fun but I didn't know everyone. And I can't honestly remember who was on!

BBC recording of Kanye West at Abbey Toad studios. John Legend too. We were right at the front as DS was only about 10. Could see his little hands up for Diamonds in the Sky. The tickets were guest & competition winners only - I won ours via Time Out. I screamed in Tescos when they phoned me.

As a teenager, I was on BBC Scotland as I took one of those oversized cheques to the studio for Children In Need. I also sang along with some firemen in the studio.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 15/01/2020 08:48

I've seen QI, Epic Win, Pointless, and a few others I forget now! It's a lot of queueing, get there early, take refreshments for while you're waiting. If possible get on the Priority list (depends on whom you get the tickets from) as that gives you a better chance of getting in.

Don't do as one guy did at a BBC show - he tried taking a scalpel in his pocket, then when security took it off him to collect after the show, he kicked off and got himself arrested!

@Noideawhatusername - what's Live
At the Apollo filming like?

TravellingSpoon · 15/01/2020 09:19

Been in the audience of Trisha and Mock the Week.

My EX-H was in the audience for Top Gear

QueenOfCatan · 15/01/2020 09:28

8 out of 10 cats, or was the week before the final Harry Potter book came out (so would have been aired the night it came out) and my friends and I were huge fans of HP so we loved it! It was great fun but lots of waiting both outside before filming and whilst filming!
Jimmy Carr came to chat to the audience as well which was alright!

Somebody I know went to see qi being filmed and ended up giving Alan her snacks Grin I think it was flapjack that her stepdad had made and Alan was very appreciative (it was bloody good flapjack!)

hennybeans · 15/01/2020 15:22

I've been in the audience of the Rikki Lake Show ( I see a PP has as well!) And Spin City with Michael J Fox. I sat behind his wife! Both shows circa '97 in NYC.

howdoesthisworkagain · 15/01/2020 16:19

Live at The Apollo. I took a date and we had front row seats. We did not get away unscathed Grin but thankfully that was edited out.

howdoesthisworkagain · 15/01/2020 16:21

Live at The Apollo - what you see on TV is a fair bit shorter than their set.

Doggodogington · 15/01/2020 16:23

Thronecast, the show that discusses Game of Thrones. A lot of hanging about.

MaxPaddyandHarry · 15/01/2020 16:42

Songs of Praise from Spring Harvest many years ago. There was a rehearsal and then everyone was instructed to sit in the same place for the actual recording. A group of girls turned up and sat in our seats and refused to move! We had to sit somewhere else in the end. I don't think they were actually featured in the recording, so they needn't have bothered.
A friend of mine went to HIGNFY recently and said it was really disappointing.

WwfLeopard · 15/01/2020 16:48

Jeremy Kyle lol

Wheresthesandman · 15/01/2020 16:49

Question Time, when I was at sixth form doing politics A level. About 10 people in my class applied and I was quite smug about being the only one picked.

Clearly I didn’t get out much as a teenager...

fartingsparkles · 15/01/2020 17:37

I've never been at any tv show, so am jealous of all of you. Have to give special mention to posters mentioning Pop Star to Opera star and Night Fever because i loved them both. The Pop Star to Opera star with Andy Bell on was on just after I had dc1. I remember Joe McElderry was on it (think he won) and he said how lovely Andy Bell was to him about coming out etc.

PolaDeVeboise · 15/01/2020 19:21

I went to see Bottom being recorded BITD, both Rik and Ade were hilarious off camera. Also went to see George Michael special for Parky, his first interview after the incident in LA. I loved him (and still do :( ) and he sang 3 songs live, one being Different Corner, my favourite.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/01/2020 19:53

Countdown, when my mum was on it. We all watched the previous two shows being recorded, then watched the one with mum in. She was up against a man who went on to become an octo-champ, but she came the closest of anyone to beating him - if she’d got the conundrum, she would have.
