Anyone ever been in the audience of a tv show?

As above really. There's loads of shows which have a live audience - has anyone ever been to one?

Countdown. I think its compulsory if you live anywhere near Leeds to go to a countdown recording. They were very efficient and recorded 2 episodes but it seemed to be over in a flash. We were each given a little countdown notebook and pencil so we could play along Grin

Quite a few:

University Challenge
Countdown
Mastermind
Ninja Warrior
Mock the Week
Heads or Tails
8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown

A few pilot shows that never made it to air - including one with Dylan Moran that we think got reworked into Outnumbered (exactly the same premise).

The Time the Place when I was at school - I was wearing a fairly low cut top as well and was directly behind someone asking a question, so headless cleavage was featured in the close up.

I went to a Big Brother eviction as well, but can't remember what series it was or even who was evicted. One of the early ones anyway.

And I went to the filming of some comedy programme but I can't remember anything about it other than it was at the BBC and Ardal O'Hanlon was doing the audience warm up bit.

The Dog Ate My Homework.

Twice.

The glamour of it all. Actually very interesting to see how they put it all together, the kids had a blast and we got a free carton of juice and a Freddo at half time. Youngest was a little traumatised in seeing Hacker's "handler" disappearing under the desk though.

Celebrity Mastermind
Strictly
Jonathan Ross Show

Radio too:
Loose Ends
Cabin Pressure
Some quiz hosted by Claudia Winkleman
Think I've been to Just a Minute as well; definitely was at something hosted by Nicholas Parsons.

For reasons to do with DH's work at the time, lots of Parkinson, and a short-lived bit of fluff called Pop Star to Opera Star because I knew someone who worked on it who knew I liked opera -- but after a couple episodes the idea that Katherine 'My Breath Control Sounds Like a Car Changing Gears' Jenkins was supposedly a 'professional opera singer' made me too cross to enjoy the sheer weirdness of Midge Ure, Andy Bell from Erasure and someone from the Pussycat Dolls singing Mozart.

@ChibiTotoro @FruityWidow

I was in the audience for Light Lunch with Mel and Sue and got picked to ask the celebrity guests a question. It was a bunch of footballers, I think including David Seaman and Teddy Sheringham. I had to ask them whether they'd ever had groin strain Blush While I was waiting to ask my question I had a whispered chat with Mel about her pet guinea pig Nigel Grin

Loose Women for my sisters sake. It was dire and completely changed my sisters view of the panel

Thethingswedoforlove · 14/01/2020 18:02

The Apprentice You’re Fired (recently) and a Saturday night show with Michael Barrymore back in the 80s. Jason Donovan was a guest.

iklboo · 14/01/2020 18:07

@FramingDevice

I loved Pop Star to Opera Star. Alex James from Blur was a total car crash Grin

Went to the filming of Top Gear in the mid naughties with DH and a friend. Jeremy Clarkson was pretty vile (as can be expected) got all the prettiest, large chested women to stand round the podium. Sanjeev Bhaskar was the star in the reasonably priced car and jezza was pretty racist during his intro. It made me stop watching the show tbh.

Chanel05 · 14/01/2020 18:18

I went to Deal or no Deal about 7 years ago and was seated in the front row behind the contestant opening boxes so got a bit of telly time 👋.

I've been to the X Factor twice and was sat in the audience seat at the front next to Louis one year and on Simon's side another year so got in some good telly shots then too.

He was a total car crash, @iklboo. It was slightly scary watching his fringe getting increasingly despondent.

Loose Women many years ago when it used to be good.

The Chase Celebrity (twice)
There's a load of moving props and furniture, brushing of shoulders for loose hair .

Re-takes if there's a blooped line.

Bradley Walsh has a walk about the aisles and yaks to the audience . (And he smells really nice)

Rockbird · 14/01/2020 18:36

Many times a few years back. We saw lots of episodes of Drop the Dead Donkey, Dinnerladies, Goodnight Sweetheart, French and Saunders etc. It was a cheap night out and there were some good shows back then. Wouldn't bother now!

Blibbyblobby · 14/01/2020 18:38

QI and Room 101 in the multiple guest format. Genuinely funny performances, the only thing that reminds you it’s being shot for TV (apart from no loo break) is at the end where they retake lines that didn’t record well.

The Jeremy Kyle show Grin

JellyQuivvers · 14/01/2020 18:43

The Cosby Show in New York, 1990! 😮 - Lisa Bonet played one of the daughters (forget which one) and was going out with Lenny Kravitz at the time. He stood at the side of the stage watching her...... fair to say that his presence was far more interesting than the sitcom (although from memory it was quite entertaining)

spongedog · 14/01/2020 18:48

BGT semi-final - stuck in the gods - DS didnt know what to make of me clapping and singing along at every opportunity.

Top Gear & Jeremy Clarkson's talk show - freebies organised for my ex who was so in love with that man

The Apprentice fired - I thought the presenter was either very ill or on something.

Its interesting to go every few years - different industry to where I work, but I couldnt go every week like some people seem to.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 14/01/2020 18:48

Alan Partridge, third series when he was building his house and dating Sonia.

SospanFrangipan · 14/01/2020 18:52

The million pound drop, when Harry Judd was on it. It was super strict, we had to put all our belongings in lockers, couldn't take anything in with us apart from medication. Was very interesting to see the set, as it's no where near as fancy in real life!
